A drive through Kangaroo Valley is a good day trip from Sydney.

Very scenic and a good chance to use the torque up the windy mountain road.

A nice sound combination of bellbirds and turbo whine.

There's a stretch of road that goes over the Great Dividing Range from Casino to Taree. I go across every three to six months - 100 km of windy roads through hills. Awesome fun although it can be a bit hairy at night if you don't know the road and slow traffic can be a pain.

It's about 120 km and takes me 1 hour and 20 minutes in my VT Berlina (tyres make all the difference in that car) - I'm keen to try it in the XR one day :D

Casino to Taree, that's more than 120 kilometres!

I'd try either, Thuderbolts Way from Nabiac to Walcha, then the Oxley Highway from Walch to Port Macquarie. Real Ducati territory, twists, open sweepers and flat out blasts.

Or, the Mount Gibraltar Road from Grafton to Glen Innes. More of the same, but not quite as good.

If you guys find yourself in Canberra, try driving Cotter Road through Namadgi National Park -- amazing twisty drive with great hills. And while you're out there, check out the HUGE radio telescopes at Tidbinbilla. :)

In Sydney, the length of Henry Lawson Drive before they put in a perm. speed camera.

In Vic, the Maroonda Hwy, between Buxton and Healesville (spelling?). Long (15km) strech of very curvy roads with almost every turn being a hairpin. I had heaps of fun going up and down in the Pulsar when I was down there (return trip almost every day for two weeks). Would be worth the trip just to take the XR6T for a spin!:)

A good drive of mine is through the Royal National Park, Stanwell Tops and along the cliff faces of Lawrence Hargrave drive before turning off up Bulli Pass and making your way home back to Sydney on the F6 freeway... some conveniently placed pubs near Scarborough offer a refreshing ale or two while taking in the water views.

Lawrence Hargrave Drive can get busy on the weekend, particularly with bikers.

Some great runs there guys!

Some of my favourites :

(1) Macquarie Pass - down Wollongong way - very tight hill climb, unfortunately quite a bit of traffic most times

(2) The road to Natural Bridge out the back of the Gold Coast - and back down to Murwillumbah - fantastic hill climb with some interesting stages (including a couple of 2 into 1 lane bridges with stop signs!)

(3) Pacific Hwy - Berowra to Gosford (when there's no sign of Mr Plod!) - my old "home track" :D
