Is it possible that cars that are driven hard self tune more power or teach themselves and could lead to a higher reading. Just a thought. I know I drive hard and have averaged 17.3lt/100km for 10500km. I wonder what the Lt/km are for the rest?

95% Freeway k's

I let the puuta do the work I'm not that anal to worry about calculating it out, if it need's petrol I put it in and the car keep's goin. The way the price of fuel flucuates I dont see the point to it IMHO.

That and the calculating makes my head hurt.

the way I figure it ...

pulp=5 to 10rwkw

the cars loosen 5 to 10rwkw

manuals are 5 to 10rwkw up on autos

so there can be a range of 0 to 30rwkw in the group ....

strongest auto was 202rwkw ... loosened and pulp

the manuals were about 210rwkw ............ so that's 5% loss for the auto over the manual and that is very low ... well done Ford

the ulp autos were 185-190rwkw ... use pulp guys B)

the XR8s are making 210+rwkw about 10% up on the XRTs ... (Ford claim XRT-240 to XR8-260 .... 10%) game over

the GTs are making 230+rwkw about 20% up on the XRTs .... (Ford claim XRT-240 to GT-290 .... 20%) game over

the Ford universe has found its centre again ... thank you Henry

Ha ha - I just cut and pasted the results into an e-mail and sent it to my Expensive Daewoo mate who has just had a 331 stroker fuel injected 308 built up for his HZ/WB wagon. 250 fwkw was the figure the engine builder was aiming for (decent cam, superflow heads, Haltech comkputer etc) - result was 141rwkw!

Reckons he nees new bigger exhaust and different intake hose to air cleaner. The intake hose he has now is a corrugated platic job that does a right-angle bend as it comes off the throttle body to clear the air-con compressor so this a bit restritive, but even so...

Interestingly the same dyno had an XR8 ute there at the same time and it only came away with about 160rwkw. Ute had only done about 800km so it needs some loosening up I guess, as does my mate's car as it has even fewer kms.

The motor would be worth a few bucks, maybe not $10K, my mate owns a wreckers/spare parts shop so has done the motor as a barter trade fr parts so actual cost to him is minimal.

The engine builder is quite a reputable one in Canberra, been involved with drag, speedway and hot street cars for years and the guy who tuned the car has the shop next door and has an excellant name with hot cars too, particularily 308 Holdens. He owns a twin turbo 308 LX Torana that I think won it's class at Summernats Horsepower Heros dyno comp last year.

I just laugh at my mate because he looks down his nose at me because I have a Ford, and because it's 'only' (hiswords) a six cylinder. Can't wait to pull up at the lights next to him someday and show him what 'just-a-six' can do!

greetings all

I have just been looking at this old thread & wondering if any of these cars have been run up on any different dynos in the state of mods that they had on the day to see if there is any difference between dynos

regards
