Crazy.. You blame the government for the drought, I suppose the americans are blaming the government for the Hurricanes and flooding.

I guess the european governments are to blame for the clold snap last winter, and the outbreak of bird flue.

Doesn't matter how many times goverments change, one thing that will never change is people whinging about them.

Particularly us Australians because we most of our ancesters were whinging poms.!

I am working on Water projects (as are lots of my colleagues) across QLD and Vic. and believe me when I say, nothing of this scale has been undertaken since the Snowy Mountains Scheme.... And that job pales into insignificance compared to what is happening at the moment.

Problems will always occur in life, its those that find the solutions to problems that are the true leaders. This is a Car Forum and I understand ford comes here for reference material, however I doubt our politicians do.. If you want to make a difference, get involved in local council, join a political party, speak from a soapbox, but here, we will, always share different views, and maybe all of us are wrong, or maybe none of us are wrong.

Now I will sit out of this one

Since when did I mention drought????????

I said infrastructure.

In Sydney we have lack of electricity, crappy roads and no water. The water issue for SYDNEY (not country areas) is nothing to do with drought, in fact Sydney's rainfall has been above average, we just aren't catching it. The State Governments have also been aware of the problem for years, but have done nothing about it. Nothing has been done to maximise our catchment and storage until now, when it is nearly too late. That is where the Labour Governments have been at fault. When Howard tried to step in and help, they rejected him. Actual Government paid researsh show that nearly all of our costal cities have had pleanty of water and if correctly caught and stored, we'd all have enough, but these reports have been virutally burried and ignored for the last 5 years. Instead, in NSW they want to spend billions on a de-sal plant that will at best produce 5% of our water needs at a huge cost to the environment. Stormwater harvesting however will provide 95% of our needs alone.

Lots of Problems, not one Solution..............

The world is full of them

True, but the solution to anything certainly isn't to ignore it until the problem has escalated beyond control.

Funny isn't it that when Governments want to go to war, an election campaign or run propaganda there is no hesitation to jump in and spend the money, but when it comes to infrastructure, they sit around and wait until the current system has fallen apart before they even start to look at the possibility of an upgrade.

There is simply no avoiding the fact that the state Labour Governments have failed us, and water is not the only issue. To put federal Labour in power will only escalate the problems as they all follow the same party lines and ideals.

But keep in mind these people are only going to promise to do things if it keeps them in power, A political term of potentially 3 years is not enough time to change the world we live in, maybe we should take a leaf out of China or dare I say it, the deposed Iraqi president.

Very true, that's why with Rudd, it can only be a promise.

At least if the Libs stay, we'll know what we're getting. Continued economic growth and policies based on the greater good of the nation and the majority.

As said many times, we all know they lie, therefore all Federal Labour can do is make promises that we know they'll break.

They took 290 billion in income tax and will be returning only 5 billon in tax cuts. Nothing but a drop in the ocean.

Amazing how we always lose sight of what the government has taken and only focus on what it is giving.

I dont see how the war in Iraq has anything to do with politics. Reguardless of who was in, reguardless of the real motive, it was inevitavble that the so called civilised countries were going in. Labour Liberal Greens it would not matter, the place had the potential to threaten our way of life, and that would not be tolerated by the populace. Let alone us on this forum,. that make a quid, enjoy luxuries and drive fast cars that love a drink.

I will ask the question again.

Does anyone really believe that had any other government been in power in Australia, that Australia would not be involved in the War in Iraq?
