Id vote for anybody that'd get the relative price of housing down in the next 10-20 yrs so my kids dont have to live in boxes or tents. Gee, more grants? Gee, bigger loans? Where is all the money going.....somebody is having a great time and its not the younger generation.

Id vote for anybody that'd put some life back into the public school system, the chasm between the public schools and private we've seen is ridiculous...teachers laughing at their facilities and making excuses for them.

Id vote for anybody that makes higher education more attainable without signing your ass over....

A few basic things we used to have are just plain GONE. Unless of course you want to mortgage your life away financially......

I have no answers...I just wish what we are offering our kids was a better place to live than it currently is....

So let me get this straight, you want every hard working home owner in Australia to loose hundreds of thousands of dollars on their homes!!!!!!!!!!!!

And you want your kids to live in a society where their home is merely accomodation rather than an investment in the future?????

Great thinking there. Or is it a lack of it that is to blame.

On the education front, yes it is bad, yes it is a state issue, but it has always been crap. The education system was worse than now when I was at school, it was worse when my parents were at school and so on.

People, people, where's the love.....

When all is said and done.... as a great man once said (I think he was a greek fella) people get the governments they deserve..

ALL politicians from either of the major two parties are megolomaniacs who are hell bent on political power. They will do or say whatever it takes to get elected and to stay in power. I think Johnny Arthur has well and truly run his race, it would appear that he has lied once too often, people no longer believe him or his parties policies and have stopped listening. That is why his seemingly positive big spending budget has not equalled a bounce in the polls....

The right wing liberal/national coalation is geared towards supporting big business and the higher end of the socio economic demographic whereas the left wing labor party TRADITIONALLY aims its core policies towards workers and those on the low end of the income ladder.

I think the vast majority of us (me certainly included) fall into the "middle Australia" where the last 10-12 years of economic prosperity (fuelled by the boom in mining and the rapid economic expansion of south east Asia), has meant we have all done pretty well.

This prosperity however enjoyed under a right wing federal government, has meant that the traditional social safety nets which protected lower income earners and underpinned the now defunct Australain ethos of "A FAIR GO", have been eroded to the point where it is every man for himself. Declining heathcare (unless you have private insurance), the destruction of free tertiary education and the creeping cancer that is populist racism has changed the landscape of this country forever.

Damnned shame too.

But what are ya gonna do?

Racism is a pretty big word, and nothing has changed, it's just australia sticking to its beliefs. I certainly don’t hate any particular race, but if you come in to this country you speak its language, obey its laws, and adopt its ideals & leave yours at the border - simple as that.

So you want to earn what you are currently and prosper in the currently booming economy, but want the government to pay for healthcare and tertiary education? And you think labour will provide that?

And then there’s the future fund debacle :spoton:

theres life in the school system - its called the apprentiship scheme.

you earn more than uni grads too. you can still buy properties for well under $200K if you look around. if your not willing to actually look and have a go, then that's another thing. you can buy investment houses in warwick for under $150,000 with a great rental return, on a large block.

we should get that housing price down though, kick out all the oldies on to the streets, give the kids 6 storey mansions to live in, after all, its not like the oldies have earnt what they have, been through a couple of world wars most of them not that the younger generation remembers that. (note my sarcasm).

Spoken like a true 'everything for me' whiner.

Small business is far better off under Liberal. Look at how Labour in NSW treats small business and tell me if Labour is interested in looking after the battlers.

Even if Liberal were only interested in looking after the rich (who pay a far greater percentage of their wages in tax), take the time to think of the impact of that. Prosperous businesses mean a stronger economy, higher employment, more manufacturing in Australia, etc, etc. Don't you get it that there is a flow-on effect, if a business does good, the workers (generally) benefit. For your statement to hold any water (and Labour's policies for that matter) you'd have to assume that all big businesses employed millionaires only.

The only racisim I see is where ethnic minority gangs and violence is allowed to go unchecked for fear of people like you abusing the word racism every time someone is arrested. It is racist that we need seperate health departments for Aboriginals. Why can't we just have one system for all.

For everybody whining about property prices, I have a quote for you I got from an old boss, he was a dickhead, but he did say this one thing once that I thought was quite true.

There are 3 kinds of people

People who make it happen

People who let it happen

and people who say "what the f**k happened"
