For what my opinion is worth......................

I work in Finance and economics in one of - if not the largest Fund Management companies in Oz, and let me pls tell you my opinion (reflected by our Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Managers) on the preferred caretaker of the Australian economy.......

If Kevin Rudd and Labour gets in, my advice, for those of us with mortgages, go to your lending institutions and fix your rates for the long term. Rates will go up, not instantly, but they will go up. Labour are in power in every state, letting them in nationally is going to be a BIG mistake. Johnny may not be as photogenic as Kev, but I know who I would prefer runining our economy. God damn people, don't stuff this up!

I agree 110% Shanus, Johnny is the best man for the job at the moment. Remember what happened last time we thought it was time for a change? We all got screwed. If it aint broke don't change it.

Off topic I liked your article in the latest Motor mag and I agree with your comments there too.

I am full of opinions this month Al............

People my age really have no idea what it was like under a Labour government. We have had it good for so long, people just assume it was;

a) the way it has always been

b) the way it will stay even with a change at the top

Look at the Union bosses now. You want that governing this country? Because vote Labour in and that is what you are going to get. I could also go on about the tax cuts, unemployment levels, superannuation changes (don't underestimate these people!).........................

I couldn't believe I got busted speeding Al, you know me  . I have actually elected to take it to court after seeing the photo - what an absolute f'ing joke - there are three cars in the photo all in a line!

Well said, and too true.

Anyone even contemplating trusting this country to Labour needs their heads read. Same for those Green voters, because a vote for the Greens is a vote for Labour. Wake-up and realise that in all reality there are only two parties that count. A vote for anyone else is just a waste of time.

Labour has guaranteed economic failure by stating their Environmental targets, which to acheive would mean 3/4 of the population would have to stop driving, all coal mining would cease and industry would need to be cut by 90%. Completely unrealistic and clearly a lie designed to blind voters into beleiving that Labour is more concerned about the environment than the Govt.

On the other hand, Howard is being honest with the public and stated that they are committed to the maximum level of environmental reform with the least economic impact.

My argument is, Labour is willing to talk any crap an treats the public like fools. Liberal has a proven track record and more transparent policies (yes they all lie, some just more than, and more blatant than others).

In NSW they can't issue the fine if there's multiple cars in the shot.

Id vote for anybody that'd get the relative price of housing down in the next 10-20 yrs so my kids dont have to live in boxes or tents. Gee, more grants? Gee, bigger loans? Where is all the money going.....somebody is having a great time and its not the younger generation.

Id vote for anybody that'd put some life back into the public school system, the chasm between the public schools and private we've seen is ridiculous...teachers laughing at their facilities and making excuses for them.

Id vote for anybody that makes higher education more attainable without signing your ass over....

A few basic things we used to have are just plain GONE. Unless of course you want to mortgage your life away financially......

I have no answers...I just wish what we are offering our kids was a better place to live than it currently is....

Pepe,

You are kidding about the housing prices, this will NEVER happen, it's called inflation and causes the price of everything to increase.

The public school system is a STATE issue, so you can thank you state government for the quality eductaion system. Private school eductaion can cost a parent $20,000 per year per kid. The public school system will never be as good as private schools, this is due to money, the government should not be expected to even the payling field.

I think the user pays uni system is a good thing. It tends to stop people going to uni for a 2-4 year social event, then getting some BS degree that will not help anyone.

HECS has made it fairer, I never went to uni, but I had to pay my way through TAFE.

I prefer the user pays system that we have now. Our kids will have a good education, with access to uni/tafe/whatever, they will just have to pay for it.
