At the end of the day we all get what we're given as far as the budgets concerned and no amount of whinging is going to change that.

At the end of the day we all get what we're given as far as the budgets concerned and no amount of whinging is going to change that.I used to think like that, until you start getting a bit interested in the news (not saying you arnt just I wasnt until a few years ago), and then realise that the labour goverment has sent the australian economy to the sh*tter EVERY SINGLE TIME IT HAS BEEN IN OFFICE. I rang hot tomato today and had a debate with two announcers about them complaining about the state of qld health and the roads and they blaming it on john howard, which made my blood boil, since both of those problems are state government problems (labour).they brought up the point about the iraq war, as all howard haters do, which there are pros and cons for, mostly the reason for going in being oil, and not terrorism. It also had a lot to do with Australias security, being the U.S.A. , we have only lost one soldier over there however, who shot himself in the head coincidentally! I dont agree with the reasons for going into Iraq, but I do agree that when / if it is finally a democeracy over there, women wont be getting their hands cut off for small crimes, and they certainly wont be complaining when there is a McDonalds on every corner which will in turn employ their younger generation. I then asked them if they were home owners which they were, and I pointed out that they had possibly doubled the value of their homes in the last few years thanks to john howard and the home owners grant he introduced. which also has kept all of us tradesmen in work for the last 6 years or so, which keeps the housing going, which keeps the tradies going, which keeps the shops selling plasma TV's, which keeps bobbie in his job stocking the shelves at harvey norman. Do you see the pattern here? I think its foolish to rely on any goverment 100%, but if we back a government that backs business, and get a good mix of the two (business / government) the people are looked after, kept in jobs and the like. They spend 80% of their time trying to win elections every 3 years, so they do not acomplish much long term goals2. They insist on their MP's towing the party line, no matter what the voters in their electorate want3. They do not get paid enough to attract good people.
