Hi guys,

I'm in the process of getting a heap of work done to my beast and I've brought up the topic of stall convertors in a couple of other threads but I'm still undecided whether or not to get a bigger convertor. I've heard both good and bad things....

What are your experiences with them on the street?

The car is purely going to be a street car with the excpetion of a few visits to WSID.

I really want the car to be quick on the street without sacrificing driveability in traffic, purely because I live in the traffic sh1thole that is Sydney.

What's a good option?

Should I stick with stock?

How are the manners of modded Ts with convertors? Anyone in Western Sydney wanna take me for a run in a car with a convertor?

Cheers

I have a converter in mine and I like it, it's not as snappy of the line as the stock converter and it revs higher but not going as hard as what a stock converter would at the same engine speed, but if you boot it or stall it a little at the lights its awesome.

Stock conveter is a little better in the driveability section and a little better on fuel, if you are not looking for every last bit out of your car then dont go for one, you will still get a good start with a stock converter and the right tune

I've got my standard convertor modified. I can stall it upto 2500rpm on the brake without wheelspin (previously only approx 2000rpm).. The drives very much like it did standard as its still a full size convertor, not a smaller size stall convertor which feel very loose until where they are supposed to flash.

My opinion, get your std one modified, should get change from $1000 drive in / out from a good auto shop.

danny.

I had a 2800rpm stallie on the T and I recon it was a bit high for the street. Awesome for WSID though.

My recommendation would be to modify your std one to 2500 and be happy. Best of both worlds

Did yours have lockup still?

Did yours feel loose until it came close to 2800rpm?

danny.

Nope it didn't feel lose until it came close to 2800rpm. I would say loose to 1500-1800 and then it drove as per normal.

But no probs stalling it up on the brake and leaving the line on boost. Sooooo much wheelspin.
