I find it funny when people think that they can do a better job than ford/Expensive Daewoo at certain things and that what ford/Expensive Daewoo has done is wrong! We test for everything, you test for what? imo, it's a liitle off topic but still relevant.harasn, as you say very poetically "we test everything" how absurd then that you release a vehicle with brake shuddering problems?? cheers. Guest Mr Walker Guests Posted 26/06/03 05:14 AM Share Posted 26/06/03 05:14 AM No need to get defensive Dagabond - RS2000's comments aren't aimed at Harasn, they're directed at Ford and I think the comment is spot on. I'm sure the testing guys do eveything they can but whoever designed the testing didn't emulate the 'real world' well enough.

Posted 26/06/03 11:52 PM Share Posted 26/06/03 11:52 PM I'm pretty sure it's been stated elswhere that ford released th XR knowing about the brake problem, it's going to cost them a packet to fix but I guess it was a marketing descision to release when they did. I got the premiums without even knowing about the problems, but I felt Ford have a history of supplying the XR's with less than perfect brakes....(It is a modified car with standard brakes) Oops off thread....iaschmidt, given your experience, do you think underbonnet temperatures would be reduced by (GADS...I wouldn't) bonnet vents? Dont get me started on the brake shudder issue. :cussing: :banghead: :angryfire: I can't go into detail, but let me say brake shudder has been known of since the very early BA prototypes but the powers that be decided, I think, to not bother with it! I and many others that have been involved in BA development are very pissed about it be allowed to happen. management were onto us to tell them of every problem and then they do sh*t to fix it! gggrrr!!!we test for everything and I still stand by that but what happens after we find the fault is out of our hands!Like I said dont get me started! Redhawk ....Time to lay this fairytale aside...... Donating Members 2,657 Member For: 21y 10m 3d Gender: Male Location: In the Ferry on the River Styx, not getting out just yet! Posted 27/06/03 09:25 AM Share Posted 27/06/03 09:25 AM Hear ya harasn, fuc#'n bean counters. Ford probably weighed the cost of skimming/replacing a few discs as being the best cost option rather than stuff around with the contract for the supplier of the discs. I'm amazed the dealers have'nt been pushing the premium brakes option as my dealer and I have read in this forum of other dealers who are talking customers out of the premium brakes.I'm lucky (so far) no probs with my brakes and I'm nearly up to 6k.I'ts like the camber adjustment, been a problem with Fords for years, again lucky (3rd time) does'nt seem to be a problem with this car. I'll hang in there as on the whole its a great job but can give you the sh*ts like anyother job as hard as it may seem. we test for heaps of things that get found but then it gets looked at to see if its a problem that people will see if it only happens on one test car. shudder happened on more than one I can tell you!I had a BA XR6 sedan with 12k on it and no shudder. Up to 2k in this one and no shudder! fingers crossed! till our fix comes out!all fun and games. on the whole its a damb good car!
