Hi All,

I'm about to take the plunge and buy a BF XR6t, I am tossing up between auto n manual, I like how they both feel and either one would suit me.

However, I need YOU to make up my mind, what makes the manual better than the auto and what makes the auto better than the manual.

Please note, that either one will be modified to join the 300+ club

Cheers

South

Manual is more of a drivers car. Auto is quicker.

straight line quicker, by fark all though if you know how to drive... 11.58 1/4 has been done with 350rwkw approx in a manual and I think 11.3 even (I cant remember atm)... but straight line is only half the story...

if you like driving around corners aswell then I reckon the manual is better... the zf auto I drove was still an auto... it wasnt in the right gear I wanted unless selected manually, and there is still a lack of direct drive feel that you get in any auto.

when you just wanna cruise along thru traffic the auto shines. when you wanna have a bit of a fang the manual is heaps more fun I reckon.

its all gonna depend on how you wanna drive it most of the time. Seeing as your asking this question in the first place, id reckon you will go for the auto, as a manual driver always knows what he wants, he likes to have full control over what the car is doing. the auto is like a middle man... :spoton:

If you are going the manual , you had better budget for a new clutch with over 300atw :spoton:

manual's a good for track and twisty fun, auto is much quicker for drags and better in traffic, the quickest manual is 11.5-6. with at least 350rwkw, with an auto and that power you will run a ten with a good 60ft. But if you are not intersted in drag racing then go for the manual

The biggest advantage of the auto is you can have the best of both worlds at your finger tips. If you wanna cruise you can, if you wanna blow someone away at the lights you just flick it into performance mode, if you wanna attack a mountain pass, go full manual. What can be better than that?

The manual is better if you intend on doing a lot of track days, but seriously how many track days can you do in a year to justify having to change gears and ride the clutch through traffic cogestion.

My 2 cents.
