on the curious side.. if u do get caught with a gutted cat? whos to say that it wasn’t like that when u bought it or do the cops not care and think u should have got it tested or somethin?

Im quite sure its possible the cat can sh*t it self and shot out the zorst, the gutted CAT, is just wear and tear its not like the cop will pull your zorst system out on the side of the road to see if its gutted, if ya do get defected to bad just get a clogged up old cat from wreckers,

Btw im seriously considering this for a VN but some people on this site have good points saying its illegal

I say do it. I want to see the results for my own interest.

How would you get caught? At worst you get a defect to have it checked then swap it out.

Unless they call EPA out and do a check then compound your car.

High powered Ts would cook a stock cat quick time anyway.

There may be a lot of defective cats out there and people dont know it.

How can a cop tell if the CAT is gutted anyway, there is no chance in hell, I have even been to the EPA with my exhaust they just looked under the car tested the DBs and off I went.

different story with straight through piping but a gutted cat no way they could pick it.

I've been having concerns lately whether my (aftermarket) cat is functioning properly (blocked not gutted) and spoke to an exhaust shop and they said there is some infared thermometer thing they can stick up the tailpipe that tells them if it's blocked. Don't know if it indicates a gutted cat.

Apparently they can shine a light on the cat, if its glowing from holding in heat then its a normal functioning cat, if its not they may ask you to take it to the EPA for a sniff... that's where you get...

Dont forget the cat is covered in heat shield as well. You actaully cant really see it looking under the car when not on a hoist. Then you have to cut it open to see inside.

Is EPA going to cut your cat open to tell.

Why would you want to gut your cat?

You pay big bucks for a car, more dollars to mod, uprgarde for sure, but dont gut, that's my opinion.
