ok mate this is the best advice you will ever get, as I been thru alot over the years....

1. if you didnt get a summons or paperwork on the spot, you probably wont ever. however, as your from WA, I dont know how the law works over there... He did what he did to scare you. DONT RING HIM EITHER!

2. If you do get the summons in the mail, GET LEGAL ADVICE!!!. yes they are expensive, but worth every penny and then some... THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. Good lawyers have got me off heaps of stuff, if I got nailed instead, your life is over... no car, no work, no money etc etc get me? GET A LAWYER, AND MAKE SURE THEY GOOD! theres a few dodgy ones out there that will just take your money...

3. Normally rule of thumb is to keep your mouth shut about everything and your entitled to do so legally - except name and address questions as someone said before...HOWEVER, if your polite and unobstructive you may get off completely with a warning (as you probably have) if your apologetic and cooperative... Ive been let off twice out of about 20 or 30 times... so if you play the numbers, you should say nothing most of the time.

very true, number 1 mistake when dealing with the fuzz is to fail the attitude test.. if you are as helpful as can be and look a bit scared its all good.. but dont be a wise ass or they'll stitch you up

mwahaha that's the last phone call anyone would ever make, just behind phoning a gay club to organise a birthday party !

Maybe you need to go one further and book a gay stripper birthday for the cop - or maybe just drop his card in a gay night club prize draw or something equally as embarrassing.

If it goes to court, definately get legal advice if you can afford it..... this would have saved my licence when I lost it some time ago. Kinda bad luck really cos its hard to hoon in a straight line from a start in a stock T :(

he cant write u a ticket tommorow and put todays date on it that's fraud.

I have seen cases where police standard opperating proceedure wasnt followed and the judge tossed it out of court and gave the police a serv for it.

Dunno where you get that idea from - the cops can record the incident in their working diary and issue an infringement notice anytime after that that they please - well maybe not any time, but certainly within two weeks is fine and legal.

If they were Ds then you have a 50% chance of not getting an infringement notice because they have to pass all the details onto traffic branch. if the Traffic Sargeant thinks there may be something not quite to the letter of the law in how they dealt with you then he will choose not to bother with an infringement. BUT if he thinks their evidence will hold in court then you can expect a summons.

The important things are going to be:

1. Did you say anything at all (that they wrote down or recorded in any way) that would be incriminating?, and

2. Did they have a tape or camera operating?, and

3. If they did record the conversation on tape or camera did they inform you that it was being recorded?

If you think the answer to any of those questions is NO then you probably won't hear any more about it.

Well last night the detectives that cuaght us gave my mate a ring telling him that becuase hes under the age of 18 they are going to have to ring and tell him mum the next day about him having to go to court.. my mate also asked him what our MINIMIUM sentence is going to be and he said Loss of Lisence (wtf?) I dont know anymore but its starting to sound suss.. all we did was accelerate fast for about 20-30metres just to the end of the traffic lights becuase it goes to 1 lane and the D's have booked it as wreckless driving..

Another one of my mates was cuaght drifting around a round about in peak hour and all he had to do was do a 4 hour driving course..

Guess my clean record means nothing.., well if I loose my lisence I cant go to work and I'll loose my car, happy days.. all I can do is hope
