Don't disagree with you , I was making a "sweeping generalisation". Unfortunately the pack mentality is now endemic in todays society, whether it is street gangs, bar patrons or those in the security industry who have to deal with them. Not like the good old days of one on one is it?

Sure you and others may have in the past or even present done the right thing, let me assure that the behaviour I stated is widespread. Why don't you get out more and see for yourself :spoton:

I was a bouncer for many years at uni, but I tend to agree, ego+ a security licience is a problem. But that said, I welcome you stand on the door for a whole night and put up with the abuse from all the pissed idiots. FFS, is it some type of badge of honour to fight a bouncer? Pack metalitity, you bet, mate for $30/hr to be spat at, abused, ridiculed ,punched at least 3 times a night and in many cases, weapons pulled. So you better believe it, if the sh*ts on, I want 10 of my guys right there with me. Ps I have been stabbed by one of the local hero's who thought it was cool to pick a bouncer, because of this I left the industry. I was scared that I would kill the next wa*ker that started something. Just imagine the crap that would go down with no bouncers. I do agree that there is a problem element though and this should be addressed immedatly. I personally believe that the club manager/owner should be held responsible for the actions of the bouncers (as well as the bouncer), I bet it would calm a heated situation down really quickly.

Unfortunately a self fulfilling prophecy isn't it ? what with the behaviour in one group determining the reaction of another. No winners here. As long as groups behave like they do at present it would certainly be a tough gig on the door. Personally I see no answer other than an escalation in violent behaviour.

The most concerning thing is the increasing violence towards the general public in public places, where security has no legal role. Answer ? turn the Police service back into a Police FORCE.... The cops no longer have control of the streets. If they did, then just maybe bouncers etc would not have to put up with half the crap in the first place.

Not good. Chick a few streets from here got her Porsche 911 Carrera jacked last night. Apparently she spotted them, and thought she got away, but they turned up at her house just as she was getting out of the car in her garage. Obviously had been following her home for some time.

I don't agree with locking the doors. It's fine to feel safe but I've been in the situation of a car accident where I had to get out of the car bloody quickly. My car ended up on it's roof in the right hand lane of the freeway at 4am.

I'd just tell them they could have it. No questions asked, just take the thing.

I too would probably just hand over the keys if someone shoved a gun in my face.

What concerns me though is the fact that we're so eager to publicise the fact, we may be even encouraging more of the same type of behaviour.

who knows in the heat of the moment..

maybe .. I would go into "auto-chat" and they would walk away ..lol

more realistically .. I generally do have the doors locked in strange places like Bris-vegas and the Gold Coast, not only because of threat of car jacking but also the would be opportunist thief who steal bags etc from the passenger seat.

and my theory is I would "PRESS THE PANIC BUTTON ON THE KEYS"

like HELLO isn't that what it's for

shaz

Sorry, flaw in your argument.

Whenever you attempt to open a locked door from the inside it unlocks straight away. And if in the unfortunate scenario that your electrics are fried, there's a fair chance either the windows are going to be smashed in any case or you're unconscious/dead.
