Turbo Bearings?

Hi there guys,

So friday night I noticed a dramatic drop in my boost, and also noticed that the turbo when on boost is a lot louder than normal, kinda sounds like a supercharger if anything. Once I turned off engine I also noticed like a slight 'bearing' wear sound, kind of like metal on metal sound.

Do you think my turbo is gone? Any ideas?

I'd say 'yep'. Take the hose off the front and have a squiz at the blades. At any rate, if its under warranty, drop in to Ford. It not, take it to your choice of workshop.

Check that a hose hasnt come off cause that will cause a lose of boost and make the turbo sound alot louder.Also they do make a bearing kind of noise when you shut the engine off.My last 2 XR6T,s have made this sound but as others have said,check they front of the compressor for any damage to the impeller and bearings.

Hose probably came off, thus the noise.

Rolling noise from bearings is normal for a minute or so after the car is shut off.

The fact that you can still hear this, would probably indicate that the bearings are OK

Got caught speeding in my 1st one so my wife made me sell it and I bought the ute for my work and being a T was a bonus. The thing that sux is I went from a 310+rwkw XR6T to a mighty 208rwkw ute It really hurts me

The Terri would have been for me I didnt want to tell everyone that cause they will think ive gone soft.
