I personally would not trust them.Im onto my second english cocker spaniel. they live for about 15yrs, are sturdy and a good size. they are very very easy to train because :A)They are so people focused, and desperate to please.B)They also have a soft spot for their gut.Require little maintanece accept a wash and brush (just sheer the fur off if your not into brushing)My dog just today scared off a group of kids throwing rocks. My dogs brother (owned by my family) also scared off some intruders from their house in the middle of the night a few months ago. They sound tougher than they look. The best bit is they are the cutest looking puppies, and a very handsom when grown up.My dog will sit, drop, stay, roll over, shake, Run around bark (by saying "whats that!"), move his own bed to whereve we are at the time (TV, family room etc) Actually he pretty much just understands and does anything you tell him to. Also he will only ever bark or growl when there is actualy smething there. Get pure bred, from good pedigree, worth the outlay over a backyard job lol. Could not find one that both the fiance and I liked until we saw this one today. He is a Staffy x Staffy/Labrador 7 week old male. His favorite hobby so far is biting anything he can get to.He is a little ball of energy so far. Took him a couple of hours to settle and since he is been very playful with 20min power naps. He is finding it tough being seperated from the other litter I think and has become very attached to my fiancee and myself. He cried a lot last night. Also because he is in the house now while little he does not like being left alone outside. Any tips on how to get him used to being outdoors for short periods of time on his own? Cheers. Cheers.yeh ours cried at night for a few weeks but then they just stopped sudddenly.. he will get used to it but make sure you dont go running to him when he does cry otherwise he will think that's what he has to do to get you to come to him and he will do it nonstop .... dogs are bloody funny animals, ours always surprise us with bad or good things hahaHe will settle in properly in a few weeks, just takes time..as for outside, just try short periods with him by himself outside, he will get slowly get used to it, especially if theres a few toys to distract him... or even a few bikkies hidden round the place..but yeh definitely dont give in to the crying/whimpering !!! once he stops for a few minutes then go see him.. I gotta say that if I were to get a dog it'd prob be a boxer... We got a boxer at the moment and she is gorgeous... They are so ugly they kinda cute.We got a pug X king charles cavalier too and he is hyperactive little sh*t, but is a good laugh too.We have always owned boxers an they are a great pet... active, friendly, good with children, affectionate and can look a mean guard dog too, until the lick the robber to death.I would prob only ever get an american bully, british bully or something like that over a boxer, Ima get 2 boxer pups when I have my own place in a few years. Its 110% owner dependant!I have a 8mnth old German Shepard puppy. Hes a big boy, weighs in around 45kgs when he was desexed almost a month ago and has a lot more to grow...Hes harmless though, although he does get overly excited and can be an annoying little turd! Hes still very mouthy (but certainly not aggresive) so were trying really hard to stop that!Hes getting better but his size intimidates people which sucks. I'd hate to have an agro dog. He makes a brillant gaurd dog though. He barkes when someones out the front that he doesnt know (I live in a tiny street) and then he runs to the our door looking for protection
