Hi Telionis,

I thought you must have had the XR body over in the US?? As the fire wall is set up at the factory to be left or right hand drive.

We can always ship a few motors over your way, not that hasn't been done before. If I remember corect Dynowog organised a drag group a few engines gonig in a Mustang body.

This is wogs site I'm sure there is some info there http://xtcaust.com/forum/index.php

Muzza.

I hope the T is never made to be sent to the states.. I think it will not be good for the car.. The mob from ford there will want it their own way and as a result the car will suffer..

Sorry to be a bit blunt mate...

One day I’ll get an XR6 even if I have to sneak it through Mexico. :P Honestly, it'll take a few years, but one day I'll import one. (Or move :)). It takes about 20k US to get a foreign car into the States, but it would still be cheaper than a BMW M3... nobody around here would have any idea what the unassuming four-door right-hand drive Ford would be capable of).

Just move. I did. It's cheaper and there's more work. ;)

I think it's just the die hard car guys. Nobody else knows about the unique cars you guys have. Most car guys know that you guys get the cool Japanese cars though (evos, skylines, etc). But as for the XR6, no, I doubt more than 1 in 50 car guys even knows that they exist. (I was sure surprised to find out about it).

Major mods are illegal??? That sucks. We can even keep corporate warrenties here... (if they refuse to honor the warrenty, they ahve to prove in a court of law that the modifications directly caused the part to fail, - new turbos don't really affect the A/C or the power steering, so they have no choice there).

Am I correct in assuming the car I drive is called the GTO down there? It's either that or the 3000gt. Depends on whether you guys took Europe's naming convention or Japan's.

The warranty situation is the same here. If you have mods, the car dealer must prove that the mods were a direct cause of the problem. What we find is that dealers are well known at bluffing car owners and say that because you changed your airfilter, you blew up the gearbox. This is where the problems start because you need to fight the whole way to get it fixed. Court is a last resort and a very costly excersise as it will cost more than it would to pay to fix it yourself.

Your car was sold new in Oz as the Mitsubishi 3000GT, but was not very popular due to the cost when new. We now see 2nd hand imports from japan called the GTO and they are turbo and NA. I nearly bought one about 7 years ago, but did not like the small interior and difficult access being a 2 door.

Welcome Telionis!!!

I must say that when I was growing up I thought that the US muscle cars were the ducks nuts! I have to admit now that my respect is dwindling a little, although I was in America two weeks ago and have to say that the new Corvette's looked pretty good. It was also pretty amazing walking around Beverly Hills, apart from all of the Ferrari's and Lambo's, I was impressed to see so many modded cars like the new Corvette's with the strange whine coming from the engine bay!!

I was also quite impressed with the Caddillac Escalade. I saw quite a few of them launch pretty hard from the traffic lights. It also made me think about how awesome it would be to take a modded Turbo Territory over there and suprise some of those Escalade drivers with an unknown car that can pull a high 11sec quater mile.

Anyway, if you ever make the trip to Australia, I am sure that there will be more than a few people here willing to take you for a lap in an nice XR or Typhoon.

How did you come across the Australian Ford XR series and this site?
