Mondie,

I have been very happy with the Yokie Advan V103's on the typhoon.

They stick like you know what and are quiet.

Hey zap, what kind of life span are we talking about here? not doing wheelies...

I'm happy with my BF goodrich's, 18" 245's got quoted $345. The profiler g force is their latest release, made in france, Y (300km/h+) speed rating, believe they are made by michelin (michelin own them, hence bfg's name appearing in world rally).

I'm sure Cro will be along shortly to tell you what's best and debunk all other choices......

Why not...

Michelin Pilot Sport 2 are rated as the best. But at $620 a corner they may not be in your price range...

I have 12,000km on them and there is atleast 70%. I am also VERY heavy on my tyres, normal lifespan is 25,000km for the fronts and a bit less for the rears

I would think these should be good for 25,000km. At $400 per corner they are a bit exy, but make up for it in performance.

hey Mondie - good to see you back in a T3. Did you get that red manual? Anyhow well done mate.

How much are you looking to spend? Like Cro says the top end tyres are $620 a corner. That is hard for me to justify no matter how I look at it. The last Dunlops I bought were $425 a corner and from all accounts are very similar to the Yokos that Zap is talking about. They were the new SP Sport Maxx as used by FPV now in replacement for the SP9000s. I was very happy with their grip level in all conditions right down to the wear indicators - they didn't go off at 50% tread like most high performance tyres seem to do. I got just 20,000km from the rears but they did a drag day which included a couple of good burnouts. the fronts still have about 15% left.

I have replaced them with Sumitomos, HTR-ZII which I have used before and are the longest wearing of any tyres I have used on the T3 (30,000km). Their grip is right up there as well, BUT they do not like puddles. Wet roads don't deter them one bit but they do tend to aquaplane in deeper puddles. I just drive slower if it's p!ss!ng down that hard anyway. Really good value at $245 a corner.

  • Just sit back and enjoy the ride...!

I'm about to put on a fresh set of Michelin Pilot Preceda 2 tyres on my baby. The current PP1's have lasted 55000km and are only now starting to feel a little slippery in the wet. At $215 a tyre (on 17" rims), I'm certainly not complaining... :spoton:

Hi Jeff,

No that red manual you mention is still for sale. It was claimed to have Brembos but doesn't, has 130000kms so too much for me. l found a Blueprint (best colour) TS50 auto for $26k with 90000km and prem sound, one owner. Would have preferred a manual but there is nothing around at less than mid 30's that l have seen for quite a while. Its ony a second car for me so didnt want to spend too much on a car that is going to sit around and never see a garage.

Thanks for all the responses on tyre choice. l am looking to spend around $350/corner so will check further into the Toyo's. $600 per tyre is a bit much especially the way these cars seem to chew through them. The GF's sound interesting, l have bad memories of that name though even if it is Michelin :spoton:

Cheers Simon

I was the same, I thought they'd be mass produced american crap. My uncle owns a tyre dealership and he convinced me to try them, apparently they've performed very well when tested. Also they have a rayon carcus with 2 steel belts which is the sign of a good tyre from my limited understanding (better ride, handling and grip in wet or dry than the sp9000's). I'm glad I tried them but it's upto u
