I’m looking for a retractable handle similar to what you’d find on baggage but just the handle.

Anyone know where I could buy one?

Call a baggage company...

Or Tab has plenty of baggage, get the brand name off one and find out who the importer is..

Now I will ask the really dumb question...

What for??

To make a really long story short, I’m working on a project at the moment that involves installing Windows CE based terminal in our fleet of trucks, now this unit has a custom built program on it where the truck driver is able to record instances of things ( I can go into full detail if someone likes). I am in the Recycling services business and that is what these are for so I have built a demo unit on a mini wheel bin which I’ve also built with the unit sitting on top and all the wiring inside the lid. As you can see by the picture it is a rather small bin and is at times difficult to move around and I was thinking a retractable handle at the back of the bin would be a perfect solution for that.post-910-1176538356_thumb.jpg

OK.... Like I said get some names of some baggage builders and start calling......

You could just get a metal handle from a broom and fix it permenantly.

I could also be cheaper to go to a baggage store and ask them for a 2nd's unit they will sell cheaply and pull it apart for the mechanisim.

A metal fabricator could make something similar and probably alot stronger.

That'd much simpler and look a lot neater, just a couple of flat strips a bit of round bar and a locking mechanism swinging off where the lid hinges. So it folds down at the back when not in use.
