Guest BA Ghia Guests Posted 05/06/03 11:40 AM Share Posted 05/06/03 11:40 AM The Resale issue is because of the fleet discounting on these new vehicles...Its standard practice for the fleets to get 10% fleet discount on a new car....That in itself means that on a $50,000 car, before you even take possesion of the vehicle, you have lost 10% of its value....Some fleet operators try and turn cars over within the first year, Most in 3 years...When you are paying something like $600 -$800 a month for a lease on a $50,000 car, it gives the fleet companies a fair bit of leeway to sell the vehicle at auctions at a reasonably disounted price, without losing out on revenue... (Do the maths right there.......)Couple this with the Falcon, and Late model camira being the most popular fleet vehicle, means that there will literally be a flood of em on the market in 3 years time.....Also take in to account that The Late model camira and Falcon are the 2 most popular cars on the Australian market, and you begin to see why the resale value of these models literally go down the toilet very quickly. My point being.....Its not the mechanic down the road fitting a turbo to an XT, or the panel beater changing the front end of a Futura, to a XR, GT replica that's damaging the resale value, its the sheer number of the vehicles being sold, along with fleet/Bulk discounting.Besides all of that, There is no way that anyone will stop someone from buying wrecked XR6-T's, Boss V8s, or XR components, and doing XR conversions to other models.....Likewise, there is nothing stopping someone from getting a wrecked Ghia, and fitting the whole damm interior to an XR6-T, including BEM, wiring looms, etc, etc.... And Creating an XR6-T Ghia.....Should I get peeved if someone did this ?Honestly, I would love to see this done myself, and would congratulate the owner on taking the time, and energy to giving it a go.....Like many people have said, it would cost sooooooo much more to create a Fake XR, or Ghia using this method, that you would really have to ask yourself why you wouldnt just spend the money in the first place, and get the genuine article ! Guest chrispy Guests Posted 13/06/03 04:11 AM Share Posted 13/06/03 04:11 AM exclusivity is never garrenttee'dFord won't throw a heap of development at just one model ie Turbo XR6. It will do the same as it did with the original XR6 and if there is a market for it, offer it as an option on Fairmont and Fairlane. It will also power the new 4WD. Most of the original EB GT development went into engines that became T-Series and other AU derivatives. Chrispy

From the rear it looked like an XR6 but was ice mint silver and had reverse sensors. I just had to see more so I nailed it to get up closer. It was a Farimont Ghia with an XR rear skirt, spoiler, XXXR8 pipe tip, and side skirts. Must admit it looked nice but I still dont like the idea of "after market" tack on of XR bits. I seemed to have some poke, I suspect it was not entirely standard under the bonnet...but that's just a guess.
HellionXR6T I'm Back!! Thats right, long over due! :) Lifetime Members 4,348 Member For: 22y 1m 30d Gender: Male Location: West Brisbane Posted 23/07/03 10:06 AM Share Posted 23/07/03 10:06 AM As long as no-one does genuine turbo kits for the N/A cars. I agree (in a way). I would not want to have a direct rip off of the XR6T but I'm definatleylooking into adding either a turbo kit or a supercharger kit as I do want more grunt. The turbo option is by far the easiest and cheapest option (as I've recently discovered so I'm more leaning towards a turbo kit more than the Vortech solution). So sue me if I can't afford the genuine article!!!!! As I've said many times, I would love to own one. Maybe I'll get one second hand from somewhere, sometime in the future but do I really want to purchase a car that's had the ^&@#%$@$ flogged out of it???
