Had a RACV inspection done just before the warranty ran out and highly recommend it.

Was a bit worried when they told me that "1 in 5 of these things seem to be full of problems" but happy when all was OK other than a weeping power steering hose. Money well spent I'd say.

Guys, I have just put a deposit on a XR6T that is almost out of warranty and am about to book it in with the RACV for one of their Pre Warrnaty Expiry Inspection.

Hope it doesn't need anything fixed but if it does need stuff it is good to know I can still get them fixed under warranty.

Will let you know how I get on.

Cheers

James

eg. after 30k service??

Yeah I suppose you could. It costs $25 to become a RACV Member but you save more than that if you get the Warranty Inspection.

If nothing needs doing you blow $169 + any extra time whatever that is but if something major needs doing then it is well worth it.

Just like insurance itself its expensive if you dont ever use it but cheap if you do.

Check here for details.

Well I got the Warranty Check done yesterday and the report last night.

The price blew out to $220 for members as it is a turbo so they have more things to check.

Here The list of what was on the list.

First is the Severity/Nees Done - Second is the Part/Item - Third is the Fault/Comment -

Warranty - Heater Hose On Drivers Side Rear - Coolant Staining Evident/Check Connections

Warranty - Transmission Noise - Whine Audible

Observation - Paintwork and Panels - Minor Chips Evident

Acceptable - Disc Rotor Front/Rear - Slight Pulsation Evident

Observe - RH Front Tyre - Noise Audible (Consistent With Various Brands)

Early Attention Required - Windscreen Washers - Aimed Too Low.

SO to summerise there aint nothing wrong with the car.

I have organised to pick it up tomorrow night.

Was it worth the $220??? Yes as I know nothing is wrong with the car now.

Even if nothing show's up at all during the inspection, it's piece of mind knowing that the car isn't going to blow up on you, so the inspection is alway's worth the money either way. ;)
