I agree there's no way you could use second to launch. I've raced bikes most of my life and it is completely different with weight being the major factor. With a grippy track 1st is perfect. I've only raced once with a prepped track and got the record straight out. Also all of f6 ute's 11s have been done on a prepped track. Can't wait till my leg is fixed so I can go down and smash my own record, haven't raced since I broke the record. Thought I would give ben a chance to take it back so I could snatch it off him again but he's taking to long :spoton:

BZZZZZttt. Wrong grasshopper.

I did my first on a crappy - unpreppared Wednesday track, but it was 12 degrees below zero, racing under sea level but with only injectors/tune and butchered zorst..

I did however do a few with Simons tune - 315rwkw in 35 degrees. Something which you haven't done.. :spoton:

Leg Schmeg, I doubt I'll take my record back!!! Utes on the way out.. Did I mention stock clutch ( and pedal arrangement ), stock shifter, stock engine, stock manifold, stock air filter, stock fuel pump on BP 98 (none of this Sunco rubbish ) ??? No????, I probably didn't.. Where's your keys??

Lol, we gotta get out before your leg falls off, and I sell my ute.. :msm: (Seriously, the ute might not race again........ )

Edit: More stock bits than I realized!!!!!!!

blah blah too many excuses. My 11.7 was done on 46 deg track temp detuned to almost your power level, only got 2 passes after and the track got heaps grippier so I bogged down both times doing 11.9 and 12.0. Also how many passes have u done? As a guess ben 200 jason 30

Anyways I'm all planned to go down on the fast fri on the 27th, hopefully u can make it and we can show the crowd some side by side 11s. Only prob is with my accident I got severe nerve damage in my whole foot and have lost all feeling and control over it ( you could call me 1/8 paraplegic with a small chance of recovery). To get around it I've been bracing my foot and using my heel on the clutch (which is stiff as) then using my knee for feeling and listening to engine revs. Not easy although I only started driving again 3 days ago so hopefully I'll be used to it by the 27th.

Really hope u can make it would be good to catch up again and see some good numbers from the both of us :spoton:

Take it easy mate just find it interesting some of the things u said as if u were referring to my car which isnt true ie pedal arrangement, race fuel (my car makes up to 410rwkw on 98ron) and how your clutch is a disadvantage over mine. If my car came stock with an f6 clutch I'd still have it, they r both twin plates, yours is just much easier and quicker to use

Like I said hope to c u at the fast fri bud

So... what's the next car in the pipeline benny?

I hope you know I'm taking the p!ss sissy pants................ where's Brentan when you need him, drinking middies I 'spose..

I actually just took the ute out for a spin round the block ( cold air ) as I don't drive it much lately. So yep, you're on for the 27th, she goes orroit :msm:

Oh, and I'm always referring to your car :spoton:

I did a 2nd gear power launch on my 512whp turbo tory once. Its a manual and you gotta get the wheels turning from the absolute start and have a pretty strong clutch. From memory it was quite a good sensation to have that constant power for longer than usual and it would have been the longest distance that I ever had the tyres turning on the bitumen. If you tried it with the relatively weak Falcon organic clutch you would more than likely sit still whilst your cluch just burnt itself out.

yeah 380rwkw is probably not enough to launch in 2nd, but I wonder at what point it would be possible 500-600rwkw perhaps? even a top notch clutch would still stuggle to handle it and I reckon represents the biggest challenge...

it would work on the street where you can get the wheels spinning but on a grippy track not a chance. At massive power levels a much taller tyre would be used which would lengthen 1st gear by a long way. For a quick launch on tarmac you want the tyres gripping and the front wheels lifting not the rear wheels spinning.

When you start talking 500-600rwkw level of power consider the fact that the engine requires the use of custom plenum at this stage, different camshafts and turbo. By doing all this you are sacrificing a huge amount of bottom end torque, so when you do actually rev dump in 2nd and your engine bogs down lower in the rpm range would you not be caught out by the apparent lack of bottom end torque and have the engine bog down even further.
