Hey,

Take one 03 BA XR6T auto ute with a healthy engine as a start, stock with no hard cover.

What would it take to get one of these to run high 12's?? I know that the utes weigh a bit more then the sedan and I assume they will need more power to run the same times etc.

For those of you with auto utes, what power is good to run a high 12?

What about the leaf spring rear? Will lowering and stiffening be a bad thing in terms of handling and traction?

What is the payload on the XR utes standard and what would it be with a set of reset rear leafs such as the Kings set?

Cheers :spoton:

With BA mark 1 auto you will need around 280 RWKW, this can easily be done with injectors and edit (with custom tune) as Flukey said.

Other mods you'll need to do will be intake related such as K&N and 2nd CAI for better breathing.

Next limitation is valve springs. Some BA's need them at 240rwkw and others can get away at 280. What I noticed with mine is they got worse with time. It was one of the most noticeable mods I did as It was seriously limiting the top end.

Cat is advisable but not necessary, it will certainly put less load on your bottom end.

250-260rwkw's should see you somewhere in the 12's.

On a MkI I'd be looking at edit, injectors and valve springs.

What about the suspension? Do Kings do a full kit for the utes?

I am not very familiar with leaf springs so am not sure what is involved to get them lowered. The BA utes look like a truck at the back.

Also would going low in the rear affect traction and drivability with around 260-270rwkw? Is it possible to get Traction Control fitted to utes?

Cheers :bum:

I agree with adam 250-270rwkw will see you drop into the 12's, standard height suspension with some M/T Et street radials, edit and injectors will see that easily, get the tuner to bring on plenty of torque to get barge ass of the line and you will have no probs getting deep into the 12's

Poor Dean im still on my first auto, 'touch wood' :bum:

you can't get traction control with the ba's but you will not need it with slicks, mine has herrod lowered suspension, but next time I will probably put the standard stuff back in so I can get it off the line harder without spinning as much
