In the past few years I have owned an EF XR6, a series 1 and a series 2 XR8, a 2002 BA - T, and the Mrs and I stupidly bought 2 new FPV GT's in 2004. Now in a BF turbo, the excuses are all the same and I have heard them all before. Before I sold the GT, I went to this dealer for several warranty items that FPV specifically co-ordinated through the dealer and when I picked the car up again I was told nothing was wrong. The following week I took it to Gregory's in Canberra and a $5000 warranty service was done no question. My wife's GT had 3 gearboxes replaced and a plethra of other problems that were never rectified. My battery was given faulty charge by a dodgy alternator and the acid led to rust which started eating away the chassis of my 6 month old $62000 GT and they did nothing to help. It was repaired 3 times and they still couldn't get it all. The first repair they simply used an orange glue to cover the area and screwed the rusted screws back into the chassis without replacing them. And before that I was even given the excuse the paint would not be covered as I was not the original owner. I had to supply my FPV ID's and SIDO and even then they didn't believe me. Over all I had over 11 grand of warranty spent on mine, the Mrs totalled $5000 plus however much the 3 boxes cost them. My gripe is not a swipe in the dark, as I have endured their crap for years. I fought for every dollar ever spent on these cars, which is why I brought this up as I hear the same old story each time I go. Apparently filthy driveline, gearbox and diff noises are normal, but you find out about all that later as you said. The reason I do suffer the dealer is because I love the cars, they are awesome but surely you should be able to rely on the dealer when the time comes. I have never heard of fraudulent warranty claims before as I am completely aware what will and will not be covered under warranty. The one thing at least this time they could fault the problem so at least I know what is wrong.

So I would argue it been a faulty part as in normal driving conditions it should not break, as it is a gear lever. I have a manual and if my lever broke I would not accept anything other then it to be fixed under warranty.Good Luck.

I was told these boxes are near unbreakable so didnt worry about its previous stint. My good friend is in highway patrol and said that he and others rarely used the manual mode, it was predominantly left in performance mode.I take that 13fraud incinuates I made a fraudulent claim to warranty with NSW police service stickers on the log books? My gripe is that I believe it to be a warranty repair and hoped that it would, but not being a mechanic doesn't entitle me to question the dealer and discuss this publicly? Hence the question I put to the forum as to what suggestions they may have and if something similar may have happened to them?I think you missunderstood my 13FRAUD statement.Ford are well known by stafting us car owners over legitimate warranty claims. I was not inferring that your claim is unjustified or fraudlent. Ford should fix the problem under warranty, no questions asked. Your dealer seems to be the root of all of the problems. There is a huge difference between a new car warranty and a stat used warranty. Even so, Ford Australia frequently instruct dealerships as to how faults are dealt with. You can deny the exessive force claim and try to haggle, as in the dealer does the labour free if u supply the part etc.

I'll be in QLD later in the week and will talk to the dealer I use to use up there and see what they can do. Cheers!

Fact is, I had to drive to Gregory's in Canberra to have the warranty issues addressed with my previous car. BTW, they are a switched on lot there and I can't praise there work enough. You will have to let me know your secret... Hope you get your shifter fixed. And then you get shafted along to the manufacturer's representatives and they don't give a sh!t about servicing Aussie sales because the volume is so low it means nothing to their sales figures but heaps to their operating costs - they will back out of warranty even quicker believe you me. And then when you have to pay out of your own pocket you will find the parts cost about double or triple the locally made equivalent for an Aussie built car. I can tell you now they were both using the shifter as you could hear them gearingdown as they were approaching the roundabout it really felt like they were forcing the downshift as the box was making like banging noises on the shifts then they flattened it again once they left the roundabout. The whole street stunk of brake pad smell...lol.My point is most of the time the HWY cars are cruised at the speed limit but when the cops are called to an emergency or are chasing someone, they drive them like they dont care. (No Sympathy)So there is a good chance a police officer would be slamming the gear changes real hard.Ive seen a hwy a patrol car try and mount a gutter in order to chase a stolen car even though the cop shouldve known the car would not make the gutter and cause all that damage...I still also think that if a car is standard then you should be able to drive it the way you want within its standard limits as the BA & BFs have a multitude of safety features which cut in to either protect the motor from over revving etc...Whats the point in having all these senses on the car if at the end of the day they cant protect the car from abusive behaviour? BFchaser Member 15 Member For: 17y 9m 29d Gender: Male Location: Hunter Posted 21/04/07 10:44 PM Author Share Posted 21/04/07 10:44 PM Just thought I'd let you guys know, that this issue has now been resolved at another dealer. I was told that this was a faulty internal switch and can't be broken through excessive force. As usual, these guys were only too happy to help me. They replaced the power steering rack while they were at it. Nothing like good help.Well I can tell you how hard they are on brakes, I had no rotors left when I bought it, and the front left had nothing left on it. The tyres were bald, the steering was shot, the gear lever switch not allowing manual gear changes, no hand brake, the exhaust had more hits than elvis etc etc. To think these clowns are running around our streets in cars that are not even roadworthy. There is not a chance it would have passed rego if I was chasing a pink slip. I can't begin to tell you how bad the rotors were honestly. Now everything is replaced and new, and is driving like new. I knew id have a few things to do but I didn't think there would be so much. Anyway im a happy camper now. Just got back from beautiful QLD and the car needs a wash. Have a top day!!
