This would be my first post and am wondering what your thoughts are on a dilem-ma I am faced with.I have a BF turbo, with 6spd auto and am loving being back in the familiar seat. However, the auto shift is not working so I have to drive it in standard 'D' mode. I took it back for warranty and was told that I need a new lever as the micro switch has been broken through excessive force. I am quite annoyed as I have yet to use the adaptive shift since I bought it second hand. Basically Ford have left me to pay the $740 fitted for a new one and charged me $192 to find this fault in the firstplace. Last year I sold my pride and joy through being sick and tired of warranty arguements with the dealer (2004 FPV GT), and am travelling again along the same road. Any suggestions? Guest newl Guests Posted 08/04/07 07:02 AM Share Posted 08/04/07 07:02 AM I'd be asking them for a copy of the engineers report indicating the exact cause of the failure. From their response, I would expect the report to also indicate "excessive force". If they cannot or will not provide this information to you then take the issue up with whoever is the next level up the food chain at the dealership. Also get on to 13FORD so that they too are across the issue and make both them and whoever you're speaking with that's higher up the food chain at the dealer that the other has been informed. There have been some dealers around not willing to do warranty work for stupid reasons.

There have been some dealers around not willing to do warranty work for stupid reasons. The problem I have is that where I live, the same group owns all the Ford dealerships. I have been to Sydney in the past with only slightly more success. Fact is, I had to drive to Gregory's in Canberra to have the warranty issues addressed with my previous car. BTW, they are a switched on lot there and I can't praise there work enough. This dealer retensioned the front end as I asked them to look at a clunk in the steering. I was charged $55. Then I took it back as the clunk was still there, and it was found there was a faulty power steering pump which they replaced. Has anyone been charged for retensioning loose suspension under warranty? Looks like another trip to Canberra... I'll have a little fun on the way too! When you go there you give them trouble not the other way around.PS: if service manager is playing stupid then you go to person above him and so on until you get you car fixed. For now I just wanted my car fixed as they had it 4 days and I have only had it for going on 3 weeks. I was going to take this up with Fair trade as I am tired of their crap. The Mrs bought a T in Dec 02. We had it 12 months and sold it the day it ran out of rego and it had 26000 kms on the clock. In that time, we had the gearbox and diff replaced, a/c compressor, p steer pump, computer, seat bracket and drink cup holders replaced. there was not one item we didn't fight for as they would say over and over there was no fault. In the end I had to get my uncle who owns his own repco repair centre, to come and take the service manager for a drive to fault the gearbox and diff. Bottom line is I am just over arguing with them and hoped that it would just get fixed. At least it is documented now as I am nearly out of warranty, so I will have another crack elsewhere. I got rid of my XR8 because it was about to require it's 6th diff. The only way to get it fixed will be talking to Ford themselves..As someone said before:Ford Customer Relationship Centre Phone: 13 FORD (13 3673) Remember "The squeaky wheel gets oiled "Or you could always ask for a "24 hour test drive", and pinch the bits you need.Tony
