I drove both the manual and the auto in the BF and ended up with the auto Zf.

The manual was fun but after a while (thrashing) found it was not as fun to just cruise around in. Traffic was not good, the Zf on the other hand was good alround.

Give it some stick and it responds like a manual , not quite the same but similar, but then you can relax and just cruise if you wish in Drive. The only thing missing is the pause between gears, which makes you think it is not acccelerating as quick as the manual.

When I take my son for a drive I just get of the gas for a split second at 5000RPM as the auto changes to give him that WOW this is fast......as the auto changes gear, giving a push I the back as the car winds up again :spoton:

Exactly. No use comparing it with any other make of vehicle....considering the thread title is "Which Is The Best Gearbox Available For The T"

You'd be hard pushed to find a driver (that doesn't have a V8 supercars contract) that could change gears faster in a manual than the ZF.

It's that close to instant it doesn't matter.

I originally said the T56 was the better option as you can up/down shift when you want.

The ZF Auto does not provide as much functionality. The ZF is also slow and hesitant when manually choosing the gears.

Oh dear, is this thread still alive? Better finish it off then ...

The winner is ... waaaait ... sit down tab ...

... the manual. :censored:

Like you all didn't already know that!

And here's why ...

If driving for you is a chore and you really don't want to be bothered about being IN the right gear AT the right time ALL the time then the auto is for you.

You will also have a preference for self-cancelling indicators because you don't have the ability to concentrate fully while driving and tend to forget the minor details such as turning the indicators off after completing a turn, in fact you probably can't be bothered even using the indicators - what a bother the damn things are right?!

Also better get rain sensing wipers - whilst your mind is wandering from the tediousness that driving brings to you, you will probably not notice if it begins to rain. Do you even know where the wiper switch is? Oh, and it isn't illuminated so how the hell will you ever find it in the dark? Yep, better get the auto wipers!

And auto headlights ... etc etc.

I won't go on, I'm sure you've got my drift by now. :roflmbo::roflmbo:

:blaah: :blaah: :blaah:

Can't beleive it took you four days to respond...it must really suck getting old

The manual may be more "engaging", but the best suited box for a T is without a doubt the ZF. But then if I drove via Qld Raceway on my way to work each day then perhaps I'd think differently....as that's the only reason you stooges can come up with :tease:

Oh and although I'm missing the auto sensing wipers, they are speed sensitive if that counts. Got the rest of the boxes ticked, along with cruise control, climate control, electric windows, power mirrors etc. etc.......it's a wonder I can stay awake behind the wheel
