Hi

I am wary to post this untill I have talked to my tuner but after geting a custom tune done on monday which I have been very happy with so far, and filling up with fuel this afternoon, giving it a blurt at the intersection I noticed the Malfunction indicator lamp "an engine picture in the top left corner of the dash" is constantly on . Reading the Ford manual tells me that the vehicle is no longer operating within emission regulations WTF does this mean???????

Is it safe to drive the car or should I leave it alone untill I can contact my tuner.

Is this something to do with the fuel I just filled up with " bad octane levels maybe"

Is it something unrelated to the tune altogether?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks Mark

Your car must be a BF then??

This is because there is a second oxygen sensor after the cat, and this is probably seeing too much 'pollution'

Your tuner probably needs to turn down the sensitivity of this second sensor.

Yes Nika its a BF

unusual that the sensor only picked up an incorect reading today, 3 days after the tune?

I gather from your post that it should be fine to drive? I live four and half hours away from tuner and will be a while till I can get back.

thanks heaps

Should be OK to drive, and in fact I think the lamp shoul re-set itself after a while, if the condition that caused it to light up in the first place, disappear.

This is not uncommon in BFs , as Ninka said due to the second 02 sensor.

I had my tuner fix this via edit .

That said my lamp had remained off for months but after a sustained period of

very spirited driving it came back on  Funny things these car puters

I have since reflashed my tune and all appears normal even after giving it a hit over the past few days.

Maybe you could post your box to your tuner to get it sorted.

Given the safety factor buit into your tunes there should not be much to worry

about from driving it normally

Thanks guys

You put my mind at rest

I will give Con and Jeff a call tomorrow to make sure all is well.

Good idea Buf-phoon to mail the box to get it fixed.

The tune the boys did is so much fun I thought I wasnt going to be able to drive it over Easter

Get a mechanic to scan the computer to see what has caused the light to come.

The emission standards of some of these late model cars are very complex and even something like not putting a fuel cap back on can cause a problem with the evaporative system emissions and trigger the MIL to come on if it completes a full diagnostic trip.

The light coming on on your car may have nothing to do with the tune, it may be sensor related, you will not know until you get it checked

Ratter , what you say is correct in theory. I would personally not rely on the Ford Chimps to even comprehend what was going on. Farking Imbeciles.

Had an error with my Airbag light, 4 different dealers , 4 different diagnosis all using the same data logger, same code. Only one got it right. :spoton:

Monkeys the lot of em. Don't start me on their continuing ineptitude> If it is not warranty there is no way these Kents will touch , let alone drive my car .

After a T and 2 FPVs the file is now getting pretty thick , dealersh*t service and support is a farking disgrace.

Grrrrrr :spoton:

At the end of the day you cannot defend the indefensible.

G'day all,

I bought an FG XR6 Turbo with 12 000kms on it on Tuesday from a dealer in Melbourne (who will remain nameless at this stage) and I love it but in the 4 days that I have had it some issues have arisen which I would appreciate your expert thoughts on. Firstly I had to get a vehicle inspection to get it registered in the ACT and the inspection revealed that the rear diff housing was cracked (on a car with just 12 000kms on it!) and then today the Malfunction Indicator Lamp came on and stayed on - something about not operating within emissions regulations. Anyone else had these probs or got some advice for me?

Thank you

Kermit (yes it is green)
