my boss has the latest bmw m5 or whatever it is v10 pos. its like 200k or so.

he keeps saying that it will wipe my t off the road I say to him wednsday night at the creek and I will show u.

do I have a chance with 280 rwkw and a manual.

at the plex there was a 911 twin turbo with autronics computer etc and that was doing 12.1s. from memory he was one of f6 ute's mates. Ben and I were both running 12.1s that night also. At the end of the day in a manual car a lot of it comes down to driver.

No chance

I wouldn't be so sure, depends how well u can shift and launch. Abrand new ferrari f430 with the optional f1 seven speed paddle shift was at the plex and only managed a best of 12.7 with most of the runs being 12.9s. A 12.3 is possible in a manual t with 280rwkw, I'd like to see a m5 do that on the strip, I know bmw may claim that but real life is a different story.

The M5 is 373Kw and NOT a POS.

If he knows how to use the launch control he could get a 12.7 1/4

280rwkw will not be enough.

I have had a run against all 3 exotics mentioned in this thread

1)Porshe Boxter S 2 standing starts in my old T ( 280 rwkw) = Chopped

2)Porshe 911 Carrera roll ons from 80+ks - Neo Nazi ( 350rwkw) = Chopped

(Thanks to Billsta for completing the humiliation) :msm:

3)Ferrari 430 roll on from 90ks - Neo Nazi ( 350rwkw) = beaten, not owned

and had to work for it, couldn't tell you the final speed :biggrin:

The Ferrari looked and sounded bloody awesome though, sex on wheels :spoton:

I was marginally beaten by a M3 that looked pretty darn new. He got me in 1st as I didn' think he was going to lauch it. I have 190rwkw's (14.2 sec no flat shifting) and had a passenger... he was by himself. I didn't flat shift either which makes a decent difference in my car.

Hmmmm ... drag times seems to suggest that a 12.3@116 is possible with a stock M5.

But then 280rwkw in an XR6T Auto should give you a 12.5@114 or so ... The manual does put a bit of a spanner in the works.

Mate the figuers say that what happended is on the money. I took on an old Ferrari from the toll gates in Brisbane one day. It is supprising with a rush of adrenalin how mechanically unsympathetic you can be to your car. End result was he did not even try, so a waste of time on my behalf, well not entirely true, sideways out of the toll gate and wheelspinning going into second and a chirp into third was fun. The feeling that the police would hunt me down afterwards was not.

Anyway lets get to the point, these cars stock and midly moddified, make us Aussie type middle class blokes feel great, and apart from all the inherant faults they have, Ford Australia have produced a car of amazing capability at relatively low cost. I know I am going to get flamed, but the Mustangs became a cult car for this very same reason.

However all said and done, us mere mortals in stock or midly modded T's have no chance against a M3 or Porsche, given that theses vehicles are driven by anyone with half a smick, in any race that reallies on the driver having some ability.

Enjoy it whenever it happens, and when you get beaten, at least you know you put up a good account of yourself, and they had to spend a sh*t load more to beat you.
