Get some skills happen and it only happens with experience.You will be faster on a lesser bike. Stick with the Jap bikes. The Terra Moto range (formerly Thumpstar) have a good reputation, but cost over $3,000 for their 125 pro.$1500 for a 250 sounds too cheap, and would generally be cheap for a reason. I've got an el cheapo 125 Chinese bike for mucking around on and something breaks or falls off every ride.The comment on the motors lookng like Honda are spot-on. Basically, Honda sold off some old engine moulds and machine tools to China. They are Honda designed motors, just put together without Honda quality or componentry.As mentioned earlier, you're better off with a rego'd bike (illegal riders ruin it for the rest of us and deserve to get caught and flogged) as well as a reputable brand for the type of riding you want to do.Then again, we may be wrong and you may be lucky. For $1500 it maq be worth a gamble, but be prepared to do your dough if it all goes wrong. And be prepared to be restricted to riding on private property only. After racing enduro for many years and riding since I was a little kid I wouldnt risk anything but a Jap or a Euro bike. Spares, quality, service, reliabilty are all features of well known bikes like Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, TM, KTM ect... Doenst matter if your a hero rider or not, you'll get blasted by anyone on a decent bike and regret not spending more money at the beginning. Forget about the Chinese crap mate you won't regret it I rode a 2003 WR 450, couldnt believe the control you have with all that power, you can pull it up to exactly where you want to, little higher, little lower, I think I was doing mono at about 60 clicks heheI had a tt350 years ago which used to ride sort of like that, but I didnt get the valve clearances done and it lost a lot of power over time, im told if you get the valve clearances done regularly, you will be able to keep it going for ages.WesGold coast Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
