just recently done 2 oil tech nights, the additives in the modern oils do not start to work until 90 degrees celsius, the oil manufacturers probably know a bit better about their product than most mechanics or tuners etc

With oil following the coolant trend in everyday normal driving the 82 degree item has been best for me,not hi-flow just plane Jane 82*er.Oil sits at 200-210F all the time once up to operating temps, with the hi-flow 82 it was at around 185-190 and just not quite enough as explained to me.If I do skids or circuit work the hi-flow comes back out of retirement and then behaves like a normal 82* on the street oil/coolant temp wise.

in other words I have to agree with ratter and Jet.

OP,are you planning on using some sealant for the thermostat housing or something as the thermostat has the gasket around it to stop the thermostat leaking?

if you have to run without a thermostat, you need to cut the center out of it and put the plate back in so the smaller hole keeps the water speed down and not stuff up things so much. works with carby motors, have not tried it with efi
