You can insure the car in your dads name, and say your a nominated driver, say 10% of the time, you will pay more but you WILL be insured no matter what which 10% of the driving you do, nobody will know.

I know this for a fact as a close relation wrote off a car, and they were in the 10%, no problems with the payout, and that was with a really dodgy insurer, nobody had heard of. took a few weeks, but the claim was paid in full.

hello everyone, I havent had my T very long and im in a little bit of trouble, when I bought it I was under the impression that I would be able to get the car insured in my dads name therefor keeping the costs down, but I found out that when im driving the car the insurance becoms void, so if I crashed I would have been screwed

Anyway I'm looking now for an insurance company that will insure me and wont cost me an arm and a leg, I got quoted by just car and they want 2,140$ a year which is really steep for me as I'm not on a major amount of money..

can anyone help me with this at all? if I cant get my car insured I'm going to have to sell it which is something I really really dont want to do! :spoton:

I know it's not going to be that cheap as im only 18 and I'm on my P's..

thanks in advance

Fair enough, it doesnt matter anymore though.

This topic was for my old XR6T.

Mod's feel free to close/delete this as it's pointless getting bumped every few weeks

Thanks for everyones feedback regardless though :spoton:

try ING $720 in inner Melb and parked on the street. RACV quoted $1080, AAMI $790. I'm 34 yr old. Best of luck
