Hey,

Not sure how many of you are planning on heading over to wakefield this weekend, but it should be a good one.

Team Yamaha are debuting there BA GT there this weekend. Trevor Haines will be driving it. John Falk will be driving Trevor's old car - the TE50.

Cant wait to see the GT kick some butt. Hope he has a better debut than he did in the TE50 last year

Dont forget the ute muster is on - so anyone who turns up in a ute on sunday gets in for free (with a paying passenger)

:D

I'll be there, with 3 utes and at least 6 people.

Driving up from Canberra on sunday morning. Give us a PM if any one wants to hook up and do the congo. :P

Any idea if you still get the half price deal for passengers in the back seats of a crew cab?

Today was pretty good.

Started off freezing (the whole area was white from the frost), but it soon warmed up.

The Team Yamaha GT wasnt ready, but is there in the pits on display (all the stickers are on, but the interior is still in it, and there is no roll cage yet).

In one of the pratice rounds, a GTS commodore (number 44 I think) had an off track adventure straight into the flag marshall stand. The whole structure (made of concrete, with tyres surrounding) moved 2 inches. 2 flaggies were taken into the medical center, but were fine (just needed a change of undies)

Mirage challenge. Well... lets just say I had to weigh 2 certain cars numerous times because they kept showing under the legal weight limit (1040 with driver). Made sure they were legal after the race though. Car #20 also had an issue with an illegal suspension mod, and had to start at the back of the grid. Somehow he didnt end up at the back of the grid, and they needed to restart the race.

Didnt see the brutes in action much, but the little I did see was good.

Will be back down there tomorrow. I will be hanging around the pits or scruiteneering if you want to come up and say hi.

Sorry I didn't catch up with you Kelli, I went looking a few times but couldn't find you. You were right about the weather, bloody freezing cold wind. Sorry no pics guys, I left the  camera at home! :oooh: Had a good run up to Wakefield and back, went the back way through Bungendore and Tarago, hardly any traffic. Pity about the  roadworks that splattered mud all up both sides of my freshly cleaned car. Parking was good, only about 50m from the entrance gate and I was able to keep the car in sight the whole day so didn't have to stress if it was still going to be there on my return.

The racing was good, John Bowe just blitzed them in the Nations Cup PHR Ferrari. Sam Newman had a rather wild sideways off in his Lambo which he somehow managed to gather up and get back on track without doing any damage to the car or the scenery. I'm sure the same can't be said for his jocks though! Peter Brock was there in the 2nd GRMS 427 Monaro. He didn't really set the world on fire only managing 4th or 5th place and getting beaten home by his teamate Nathan Pretty in the other Monaro.

The GT Production races were good as well, in the first race I think 4 out of 5 Commodores retired, probably had to pit for more oil! The TE50 driven by somebody Falk was going pretty hard and was the first V8 home in a couple of races (beaten only by Evos & WRXs) and was beaten by Floyd in GTS in another race. There was a good duel going on between the TE50 and a RX7 for quite a number of laps but unfotunately the RX7 managed to sneak in front and Falk couldn't regain his lost position.

The BRutes were good but it was a little fustrating not knowing what was going on due to the lack of PA system in the area we were sitting. The green Coopers XR8 ute driven by Warren Luff was kicking some Expensive Daewoo SS but in the first and the last race. I think it was the second race where Nandi Kiss in an XR8 ute wiped out a guardrail and most of his ute that caused the race to be red flagged and restarted. Apparently he was OK so that's good. Peter Brock's son James was going pretty good too in an SS ute getting a 2nd in races 1 & 3. It was a litte dissapointing to see what at first glance looked like some BA BRutes where they were actually only AUs with BA fronts.

I saw that, I don't think it was the proper race car (I hope not!), just a mock up or promotional vehicle. I must say it looked horrible in Citric Acid, I didn't like it at all. I hope that is not the colour planned for the proper race car. There was nice dark metallic blue GT-P (number plate FPV006) parked in the pit area that was getting a few admiring glances and photos taken of it. Also in the Pit/VIP area was a nice AC 427 Cobra, road registered but with what looked like hand carved racing slicks on it!

I got a few photos, I put some up on my website already, but they are the high res version.. will put the "dial up friendly" versions up in the next few days.

The Team Yamaha (driven my Trevor Haines - not Falk) kicked some ass. Good result in the first few races, but I think he had a spin off on one of the later races.

The Brutes were great. It seemed to be a 2 man race - Brocky Jnr and Luffy (wazza, not ian). Kiss had a big prang, and did some major damage. However, no one was hurt (thankfully).

Bowe was a legend as always. Stokell (who came 2nd in one of the lambo's) got demoted to ice cream boy at the end of the race, and was walking around handing out peters ice creams (I got a drumstick :P )

I was chatting to Sharma (Brute #30) at the end of the day, and was debating over the weight of the cars. He wouldnt believe me my car was only 1500 kilo's, and I had to get out my rego papers to prove it to him. hehe.
