sucks with 56k, but its cheaper then broardband, heh...

Um, unless you got a free dial up ISP, and free local calls or dial up less than twice a day, no it's not.

unlimited hours and downloads from my isp, its the fastest 56k ive had (been with 4 diff isp's) and is only $20 a month, using the same fone line as the fax machine, the cost of it isnt all that high I dont think...

How many times do you dial up each day?

2 times?

Say each call is 25 cents, over 30 days, two times a day. $15 in calls + the 20 in ISP costs = $35 a month.

iiNet have a 6gb download plan (which is more than you would of used on dial up) per month cost is $40.

So for $5 a month extra, you get a connection 5 times faster than your current one.

And the beauty of it is, if you download more than the 6gb per month, you don't get charged extra, your speed gets limited to 72kb for the remainder of that month, which is still a lot faster than a 56kb connection.

So, you have unlimited internet which is on 24/7, doesn't tie up your fax line and is at least 5 times faster than dial up for an extra $5 a month.

Also the more you pay, the faster your connection and full speed download limits get.

Don't listen to much music whilst driving but Nana Mouskouri and Glen Campbell do at times get the T going quicker :spoton:

Hey Ken, what are you doing posting under ducatijb's logon?!

Not all of us can get ADSL :spoton:

Otherwise I would have been on broadband ages ago. I have no choice on the matter!

10 :spoton: kms from the BNE CBD and I can't :spoton: get cable or ADSL.

Thunder,

I know that, but -Jep didn't say he couldn't get it, I'm just telling him/her how much it costs, that it's not that expensive after all.

That's cool, I did jump the gun. I just wish there was something I could do as it's really getting to me. T$ won't budge after countless requests yet the main road along the estate has availability to ADSL/Cable. There is one option...Move. :spit:

Geez that's drastic Ed.

We tried for ADSL a while back with Netscape and got knocked back because our line failed their (Telstra's) tests. Recently got a letter from them saying that the lines in our area have been upgraded and we could now get ADSL if we wanted it.

Although the prices have crashed for broadband, l am currently happy with my $7.95 unlimited dial up plan, which with maybe 50 dial up calls a month (at 16c) costs bugger all. l changed my browser from IE6 to Firefox and that was like getting broadband anyway  l mainly surf forums and dont download much at all so l dont have a great need for speed.

l think l will now wait until WiFi broadband is available, now that would be worth having.
