I have the mal wood option 3.. very happy with the way it grips... pedal feel is better and effort is lighter then the factory clutch!!

the only downside is that with the lightened flywheel the car sounds like a tractor at idle with the clutch disengaged.

I realize it will make the engine spin up faster, but will a light flywheel really make that much difference to the idle?

Why does it sound like a tractor?

Yeah mate mine does the same. The way I see it is that the flywheel dampends any oscillations

coming from your engine so if you take weight out of it the gears in your gearbox will rattle.

I would have to agree Exeedy are crap and there waranty is also crap. They tell you yep its up the task and when it fails thaey blame the way you drive.

that's what they did to me.

Custom clutches availble through Elite, my clutch builder is great and takes prid in his product. Mal Woods gear is great too.

Cheers Paul

What does everybody else think?

I have installed the option 6 last week & still running it in, You end up with a reduced peddle travel which is going to take a little to get use to but the clutch it self couldn't be better.Mal's help was 2nd to none, he still thinks the option 6 was over kill for my set up.

To keep a clutch for a car that is going to be doing alot of stop starting you best not go away from an organic plate.. Mal's option 3 would suit quiet well up to 400kw. Also there are a few double organics that will suit your needs.

Exedy ceremic are crap & I agree there warenty is below par,, mine lasted 2 weeks with 1 burnout then it was gone. It sounds as if they have burned alot of customers..Don't buy 1.

Muzza.

Just looking at the option 3 on mal woods website and is it just me or does the pressure plate say exceedy on it?

The clutch plate is an exedy plate with some mods, the sprung hub in this clutch plate is the best available and that is why we use it. Mal

Why did my post regarding a suppliers clutch option get removed?

It is not in a sponsors forum - and the original question asked for options. It seems very biased towards sponsors to remove any mention of competitors products that people on here are using.

Why am I not surprised.

Im in exactly the same boat as 03XR6T; 300+rwkw and a ceramic clutch that shudders like theres no tomorrow with a hint of slip as an added bonus.

Every mod I did to the car up until the clutch enhanced it. Then the clutch was upgraded and drivability was dramatically hampered.

In a couple of weeks Im going to install a twin plate organic clutch kit. It is extremely well priced and is as good, if not lighter in pedal feel and stronger in clamping force, than the F6 one.

As its from a non sponsor then I dare not mention the name even though the thread starter did ask for options and as cobrav8 mentioned, this IS in a non sponsors forum. Guess the rules have changed. Cant see how this can possibly be better unless the whole world becomes a sponsor.

Oh well, enough of the soap box. When I get the clutch installed, I'll let 03XR6T know of my personal experience and anyone else interested that wants to PM me.
