I made the initial post regarding another suppliers available product - it was Nick aka Dynowog at XTC Performance.

I was not directing my complaint at Mal Woods either - I have read many useful threads by Mal, and appreciate his input as well. I was merely offering an alternative to the person who started the thread - as requested. It would be a pretty lame site if some asked what clutch options are available - and the only valid answer is the sponsors ones.

Just like in the tuning area - there are more tuners than the ones who sponsor the site, just as there are shops that we buy gauges etc from who do not sponsor. I use this forum to read about what others have done, and have found it a great site, the only complaint I have - is that the mods seem to remove some posts regarding certain suppliers products. I agree that the sellers cant come on here and market their goods for free, but.... us consumers should be free to share our experiences good or bad regardless of whether the supplier was a sponsor or not.

I also value the support provided by the sponsors, and respect their threads are not the place to be putting competitors offerings in - that is their sales space.

If the mods feel that they need to edit this reply - please just blank out the suppliers name in the first paragraph.

You probably can get them much cheaper, that is just what ford quoted me to replace

mine after one of their chimps fried mine whilst the car was in for a service.

Can someone tell me why the T56 Ford box from ford is 3 times dearer than a gmh t56.

Mal I maybe misunderstanding you as you did stste that your T56 box is blueprinted.

So do you by direct from Tremac and disassemble and blueprint and reassemble them.

If this is what you are doing an the T56 from Ford is just a off shelf item your price is extremely good in comparison to Ford.

As you would probably buy in both makes of T56 box's are the Ford one's that much more than the gmh version.

Is this the reason why the big difference in price between Ford version and gmh version.

I know the Ford box is a more refined box hence will make it a bit dearer but it shouldn't be more than double the price.

What is the stronger of the versions Ford or gmh. I think you stated somewhere the imput spline size's and the gmh had a larger imput shaft, is this correct and doesn't that make it stronger or are there other improvements to the Ford version.

If the gmh version is stronger or the same in strength I would not mind putting up with a box that didn't shift as nice at the price difference I have been quoted.

Can you supply the gmh version to fit my XR6 Turbo?

The other thing will be a twin clutch to suit and hold my aim of 350rwkw.

Hi there guys, I have a Stock XR6 turbo but it is in the process of getting modified but on the issue of the clutch, I had some problems as well. my car had 40000km on it when the factory clutch started slipping and driving was not harsh nor were burnouts done on the vehicle however the wankers at Thomson Ford they wont replace it so I was on a mission to get a new clutch. They quoted me $2000 fitted for the factory clutch what a rippoff. So I had a look around and enquired with Joe from Autotech about what mods I plan to do and what clutch I should get he advised me the Xtreme Extra Heavy Duty Organic Clutch was excellent for up to 330rwkw and that it is excellent for street driving. So I went ahead and purchased the Xtreme Extra Heavy Duty for $800 from a supplier I found and saved $350 instead of getting it from Autotech. Ford installed it for me for $400 so fitted $1200 I saved $800 from the factory clutch and this clutch is way better. Pedal is nice and soft and the car just launches compared to the factory clutch. As my power goal is 300rwkw it is doing the job well. Should get the car back next week and taking it to Eastern Creek give it a run.

If anyone is interested in the clutch let me know and I will get it to you.

I've got the same clutch, picked it up for $525 from Brake Blitz in Melbourne and Autotech fitted it for $400. I seriously doubt it will hold 330rwkw, mine slips a little at 312rkwk. I think the slip is the only thing from grenading the T5, a ceramic with the same power would have spat teeth out a long time ago.

Next clutch I get when I eventually put a T56 in is the Mal Wood Option 3, no doubt.

Whats the go with the flywheel? Did you you the factory flywheel and just have it machined?

I ended up not going for either of the two options (twin plate or option 3) but instead just had my Xtreme HD cerametallic clutch rebuilt to the Xtreme motorsport clutch specs. They replaced the disk on the pressure plate with a chromoly unit and swapped the clutch disk to a paddle wheel type setup. I also got a new chromoly flywheel and it only cost me $800

Drivability is 100% better than before and pedal feel is about the same as stock. It worked out to be much cheaper than any other option and it holds 305rwkw with ease. Thanks for all the replies
