still quick nonetheless exahsix!!!! would be interesting to put some good rubber on it...

so whens the nizpro bottem end going in? nizpro doing the work?

are you based in vic? what made you go the nizpro bottom end?

I'm really unsure as to what to do with my engine situation. I originally was going to get autotech to build one from scratch using whatever we can from my motor and sourcing a new block etc etc.

But I'm wondering if maybe a short motor from either Atomic or Nizpro may be a better option... Anyone else been in this situation?

I had my 4 speed strengthened by Kewish Automotive, which involved changing all the bands and clutches, tempering some of the gears to prevent them from chipping, modifying the servos and fitting a hi-stall Dominator converter.

My car ran 12.03 on street Federal 275/30-19 and this really without a usable 4th gear, as it slipped due to a servo piston issue.

I have since converted my car to a ZF 6 speed, but due to a piston issue, I have not run it on the strip yet. Before the piuston problem I ran 360 rwkw.

The 4 speeds do get quite fast with the changes, but this is at the expense of driving refinement and comfort, but you can't have both with the 4 speed box.

Engine put out 344 rwkw at the time.

My old 4 speed now lives in Kezza's XR6T ute, and he's happy with it.

Gday Illusionzz...

Nizpro bottom end will go in in a few weeks time. It's a secondhand one that has done a few runs down the strip and the owner decided he wanted to build a new motor from scratch to take even more power...??!! I couldn't resist the opportunity to buy a sonic tested block, blanaced crank, fat rods and forged pistons for $1800. I've had CV racing pull it all apart and check all the clearances and put in anything that needed a refresh like new rings and bearing shells. I've added a set of billet oil pump gears as well. Now they're just waiting for me to book in and do the bottom end swap.

Seeing as you're an Autotech customer (and I assume you're located reasonably close to them) why not get them to put a set of Atomic rods and pistons onto your block and crank, add a set of oil pump gears and you're done. Don't know if therre's much difference from that to buying an Atomic short engine. Both of these options should have you running with a bullet proof bottom end and 400rwkw if you have all the right hardware bits to support it. 10 sec times capability.

only thing I would say is the stall is maybe a bit big, mine is 2400- 2500rpm, I don't think you would want over 2600, I would recomend leaving the standed stall in it, the car is nicer to drive and they leave ok to, I have run 11.3, with the standed one, and ithink that is when the car is at its best on the street, you just blow your tyres with a stall on the street. go with better clutches and band, moded valve body, cooler, and synthetic oil, imo

thanks exahsix, yeah I'm thinking I will probably just get Autotech to build the motor using Atomic parts, or whatever else they recommend. Yeah I pretty much go past Autotech on my way to work so it's convenient!

Sounds like you scored a bargain with the Nizpro bottom end!!!

thanks for you're advice blueboost, you've raised a good point! I might try and go for a drive in a car with about a 2500 stally and see what it's like on the street. realistically though it is a street car so I want it to have good manners on the road. Maybe stock stall is the way to go....

Yeah the comments about a standard stally might be very valid, particularly if you drive it everyday and want to maintain driveability. I really notice the difference with my 2800 stally and it's a bit of a pain in the ass sometimes. But at otehr times, like at WSID :spoton:
