Which Turbo For A N/a Ba

I have a n/ ba which I am converting to a turbo on the cheap.

I have everything (nearly) except for a turbocharger, as I said im doing it on the cheap and am not chasing big numbers, just a little more than stock n/a.

I can get a used factory turbo for <$1000, is there a alternative turbo that

a - is more common and may be able to find a bit cheaper and

b - will bolt up to factory turbo manifold with or with out a available adaptor plate

Honestly you wont find a better suited turbo for less that $1000.

Your only options are 2nd hand units for that price range and the only one that that is big enough is the xr6 turbo one.

Im curious on this as well sounds intersting in a few years time to do.

Was wondering would you need a engine rebuild or anything.

Maybe just valve springs at first, then throw a rebuilt bottom end in if/when it blows up later :D
