Got done for speeding yesterday.

You may say my fault, but does the following sound fair?:

Driving down the 800m slip road onto the Mitchell freeway, only car on the straight road.

The conditions are clear, dry and bright.

I'm in the outside lane of the two lane slip road, 200m from the 100kph sign, but still in the 60 zone.

There is an entry into an industrial estate on the left, and there hides a mtorcycle officer with a hand held radar.

I now have 5 points, and a $350 fine because I increased to merging speed for the motorway fractionally too early on the slip road.

Congratulations officer, you've clearly got the point of law enforcement and your location was the most serious high risk blackspot in Perth - reflecting purely your concern for road safety, and completely ignoring any hint of revenue raising or target hitting. Or not.

So that's a regular spot is it? Odd, there's not even a donut shop nearby.

I know the spot also...... tough luck mate... I know technically you did the wrong thing, but still, we've all done it, and $350 and 5 points is a bit steep!

So did you get booked for doing 40+ over the limit?? Cos I thought that was now a $1000 fine here in WA?? Or did he say somewhere in the 90's?

The penalty was a 5 point fine for doing 99 in a 60.

As I said, I was cruising along, coming onto the freeway, which is posted at 100..

And please spare me the wisecracks about doing only 100 on the freeway - I was way early for a meeting and in no hurry (and I'm that close to a total humour failure).

Hutton street entrance. Watch is there they have a wa*ker on a bike there all the time.

Stupid stupid way to raise money.

Contest the fine. under the grounds of safety

How can I contest it? I think that it's a stupid place to place a speed trap, and a disgusting waste of an officer's time when there are real safety problems out there.

But..I was speeding, and legality and justice aren't the same thing.
