I'm with evil F6, why do they persist with front wheel drive? The benefits are reduced cost and weight, however with a big engine I'd suggest front wheel drive is far more expensive and adds weight. 380 and aurion are as heavy and expensive as falcons and commodores so what's the point of it? The only fwd car I like (but wouldn't buy cause I prefer rear wheel drive anyway) is the maxima. It's 1480kg's, and has the 350z engine. What is it with australians buying toyota's anyway? They rave about reliability, but the diesel hiluxs dad has had for work in the past are absolutely sh*t.

The next thing is supercharging, no thanks. can't see these things holding a candle to the xr6 turbo zf 6 speed stock, (or any xr6 turbo for that matter) not a hope in hell of competing against the typoon or a modded to (edit only as we know puts the T in another league to stock). Seriously, why would you want one? And as for reliability, if you leave the xr6t stock you want have a problem, if you modify it properly and don't take short cuts you won't have a problem. Ford's or any straight 6 for that matter is inherently stronger than a v6 due to main number of bearings and moving parts

When will these car builders learn that front wheel drive and lots of torque and power equals a dangerous pole magnet. All the traction control and stability control in the world is not going to steer away from the physics that all that weight up the front of the car, and the fact that it is driven through the front wheels means its going to be biased to a :roflmbo: handling car. I look forward to embarrassing a few of these pussy mobiles with my RWD platform. I might have traction problems but none that those things will have.

HAHAHAHAHA  How abot the XR5T then for all you RWD freaks??

Are you guys saying that the XR5T is a sh*t box because it is FWD???

:roflmbo:

I think a few of you guys need to pull your heads out of the sand. Just because something is pulled and not pushed around doesn't automatically give it the sh*t-box title.

Destroy the bloody thing for having a toymota badge on it if you will...but the FWD argument is plain stupid.

Statements made from people who have either never owned a FWD or have never stepped out the back of their own car. I have owned 3 performance FWD's. They can be nice and can handle well but ultimately no matter how good they are, they still push at the nose round a hard corner which feels like :roflmbo:

No not a sh*t box at all, but it hasn't got quite enough power to be an issue and it's not a big family car trying to compete against a Falcon or Commodore. A Golf GTi is awesome but it's only got 147kW, but if you are power junky, you'll quickly see why fwd sucks. Mazda 3 MPS needs all sorts of trickery to keep it from torque steering off the road in 1st and 2nd, the 4wd Mazda 6 MPS is a much nicer drive and gets off the line much faster.

Also fwd is cobbled by the laws of physics; weight is transferred rearward under acceleration, so fwd always has a traction issue, especially off the line and when towing.

its not so much that its FWD it is its driving capabilities, From what I have read in articles about the aurion that it handles sh*t house, straight line they said it was good got the power down and was a nice ride but try and corner not so good, now I know not everyone likes to go into corners with a bit of speed but I do sometimes and from what I have read the aurion is well behind the xr6 and sv6.

on the other I hope toyota does very well with there new cars and that they are all round good cars, the more competition the better for all us guys when we look for new cars.
