I don't think an X-Trail is a good comparison as they are totally different cars for different markets. X-Trail is obviously a soft road recreational family car type vehicle whereas the Aurion is a performance type car and would be designed with FWD 250kw in mind. They don't just chuck a hipo motor in and and then sell straight to public without testing and tweaking. Not saying it will be perfect, but not as bad as everyone thinks. Different tyres will make a huge difference alone.

not one of the "know it all" performance "guru's" here have even seen one let alone driven it and aready a piece of sh*t. FFS grow up, it may not be your cup of tea but rest assured it will have its good points. So what will we all say IF it does arrive with awd?

Seen it at melb motor show, great looking car, and having been in the sports models they are really nicely speced interior so the TRD model could only be even better, the hilux TRD version really doenst float my boat. Be interesting to see how the bum dragger handles all that power through the front wheels though, lets just hope that Toyota did their homework.

Toyota already make performance RWD cars.

But they all have a Lexus badges on them.

Fwd's are a cheaper more space efficient car for the masses. From what I have read of the Aurion its chassis is worse than the XR6 or Dunnydoor S, and the TC cannot be turned off. So the car cannot really be driven in an enthusiastic manner.

I suspect this is probably why TRD has had to do so much development work to make the supercharged one .......acceptable.

It will appeal to the same customers who think a Camry sportivo is a performance car. :sleepystuff:

Another point is that the car will probably at the maximum of its 'drivability' limits (not durability) out of the box.

Whereas the XR6T or F6 can have another $3k to $10k spent and get an extra 80 to 150kw and still be driveable and reliable.

I doubt the Toyota would do the same.

Also FWD cars like an old Laser obliterate the front tyres in no time at all, doing all the acceleration, steering and most of the braking. Can you image how many K's you'd get from a 250kw fwd. :gfight:

You can say that again, I had never spent so much on tyres when I owned the laser (inc on the T), so I'd hate to see how much tyres cost when driving preformance FWD.

Toyota has suspended sales of the new TRD Aurion following an engine failure

Toyota has imposed a "sales stop" on its new 'hotshoe' supercharged TRD Aurion. The order was imposed late last week following the failure of an engine in a dealer demonstrator.

According to Toyota spokesperson, Mike Breen, the sales stop was issued as a precaution. Only a handful of the 241kW front-wheel drive sports sedans have already been delivered to their new owners.

"Toyota is always very cautious when it comes to mechanical issues. Rather than allow more cars to be delivered to owners, we have issued a sales stop while we determine the cause of the problem," Breen told the Carsales Network.

Breen said the problem was under investigation by Toyota and TRD engineers. He said the single failure involved a conrod and piston parting company.

Toyota personnel are currently examining all completed TRD Aurions and TRD is attempting to trace the source of the fault.

At this stage Breen would not confirm when the sales stop would be lifted.

"We're confident it's an isolated case. You could say we're being overly cautious but we're launching a new brand [in TRD] and we want to make sure nothing is left to chance," Breen said.

That's a cover up. The real reason is that all those old fart Camry drivers were having apoplectic fits when the cars were found to do 0-100 in under 20s and rev past 2000rpm. Many have been hospitalised with severe shock and whiplash and are demanding action against the socially irresponsible car company. So far Toyota has offered free incontinence pads for the old dears.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but these things are at least $60,000 on the road! the base model start at 56,990 +ORC and the luxury is 61,000!!! Wanna know why they will still sell plenty though? The badge says Toyota....sad but true

A front wheel drive Supercharged V6 with 1kw more than a standard T and somthing like 140nm less Torque. POS in my opinion. Bring back the RZ Supra :spoton:
