Well that's the point of this thread...where to find cheap XCal2s....:)

Also, CV Performance giving me a flat no that the XCals are even operational in Oz. Strange, as they've been on the Capa Website for Fords for ages.

Funny you say that as we have one fitted to our own car :crybaby:

Well it's even funnier that the two times I've called your workshop, I've received the same response? :spit:

xcal2 is the next version of the flash tuner. offers datalogging, and the ability to slightly alter some aspects of the tune (via its LCD display), but only if that feature has been enabled by the tuner.

Old and busted:

New hotness (sorta):

Or you can just wait for 'HP Tuners' aka 'VCM suite' for the Fords to be released, I hear its getting closer. Two weeks?

What's HP Tuners or the VCM Suite? Is that different hardware & software to the SCT units?

Sure is. For less money than an xcal2, you get the full tuning package yourself (look out for the DIY detonation bombs though :-) )

HP tuners is the US parent from where VCM suite spawned. Like SCT for the CAPA stuff. Been a long time coming though, and is still an unknown quantity. Tuners should be all over it though, especially if they've been using VCM suite on the commonwhores.

I'd just like to see another Ford tuning option out there personally. Mix it up a bit, force CAPA to be a liiiitle bit more competitive. Its been done to death on the forums, but CAPA were going to release a 'lite' home tuning package to the public when it looked like VCM for the Fords was going to come out mid last year. When it didnt, the 'CAPA home tuning package' misteriously vanished. You can of course buy the full dealer CAPA tuning software for something north of $2k, which when factored in with a $1200 xcal2 is a right bargain for a guy (like me) who just wants to play with throttle settings etc. Or you can see what VCM suite offers for ~$1200 (price WAG).

I wouldnt use eitherin a DIY capacity without a wideband AFR sensor, or a workshop dyno though.

Actually, I'd just settle for an Australian (CAPA) conversion of SCT's Pro Racer software:

And lets not even mention Livewire.
