I've got an x-cal 2. Cant compare to a standard flash as I've never had one. I do like it though, you cant go wrong programming the car as it gives you instructions as you go along. You can read error codes, not that I've had any! I've used the datalogging a few times which is also an extra feature over the old box.

As for where to buy, I'm not sure I can recommend those that aren't sponsors? But look around, and you shall find...

What do you mean by data logging?

Does it give read outs of how car is running / or run?

I have heard from one shop who had one and showed it to me, I asked about its feature's how you can adjust fuel and ignition to which his reply was that they are all extra's to the unit that you have to pay for and does not come with it.

He didn't tell me though how much the extra's where.

So is he correct or just having a go at me, trying to make money on me?

I would like to purchase one of these if it does come with the ability to adjust fuel and ignition so when you get a bad batch of fuel you can adjust to suit and back again when fuel is right.

Also be able to make adjustments with each little mod.

This same guy I asked him about the seimens 660cc injectors to which he said that he had problems trying to get duty cycle low enough on a 600hp flywheel car and said it would not work on my aim of 350rwkw as it would fuel up and run rich.

Sorry if I have hi jacked in anyway but these questions may also help in your quest to purchase one.

as part of the x-cal you get to change fuel (rich or lean)

timing (0-2000rpm) (2000-4000rpm) (4000-8000rpm) +or-

rpm limit

line pressure at shift

data logging

it suppose to read and clear codes, but I have not seen this work on Ausy cars yet, so there is a bit of a glitch there.

Mate the xcal2 comes with the ability to adjust fuel and timing etc in the tune, right out of the box - there aint no extras, its all included! The tuner can however, disable your ability to fug with the tune, in which case you're limited to just being able to load it (not necessarily a bad thing).

As for the Siemens deka 660cc injectors, this guy obviously needs to go to a tuning seminar. Those injectors are not just designed for high power applications, and are perfectly suitable for more modest power levels, assuming the tuner knows how to scale the injector tables properly. I have a set myself, waiting to be installed.

Here's some info I pilfered from this very forum on the Siemens Deka 660cc injectors:

Despite the high flow rate, these injectors provide a very linear flow rate even at low pulse widths allowing you to use a larger injector than normally possible without hurting idle and low speed driveability.

These injectors are able to function at high fuel pressures and don’t exhibit the high fuel pressure handling problems found with many other high flow high-impedance injectors. This makes these injectors very well suited to turbocharged and supercharged applications that see high fuel system pressures.

These injectors are the perfect upgrade for stock manifold & rail assemblies; replacing standard 75 mm packaged injectors. Also recommended for use in custom manifolds where optimum injector targeting requires more length.

Engine performance and running quality is enhanced through the optimized spray pattern of these injectors. Unlike many “pencil stream” high flow injectors, these high flow injectors utilize a multi-orifice tip providing a true 30 degree spray pattern for improved mixture preparation. This results in lower BSFC and better idle quality than many injectors of less flow.

Oh and if anyone knows where to get a cheap xcal2, lemme know kay?

Well that's the point of this thread...where to find cheap XCal2s....:)

Also, CV Performance giving me a flat no that the XCals are even operational in Oz. Strange, as they've been on the Capa Website for Fords for ages.
