Thanks Dagabond. I'd like to have more XRs join us on the cruise. For the those that came along on longish Otway Cruise in Feb, I can honestly say being in a group of 10 or so cars is okay. And, it's not like no-one has any freedom. It's a public road we'll be on, so you can come and go as you please.

I might keep it to the car forums rather than advertise it in the paper, though :spoton:

:spoton:

The otways cruise was really good!

If we put it in the paper there would get a good turnout, but we don't want people we have nfi how they behave soiling the name of this club!

I don't want my mum to see us on today tonight.. she already says to me "whats that website on your car?".... "whats the blue screened site I always see u on?" :spoton:

sure it was my first cruise so I am probably a bit over enthusiastic about it, but if you enjoy driving and meeting up with some good blokes (and sheelaz  ) then its a good day spent I think.

Fill the car with some mates (lucky I only have 1 friend and 1 seat in the ute.. :stupid: ), bring plenty of CD's (not 2 like I did at the otways one :spit: ), some cash and an esky of food n drinks and theres a day to remember!

NOTE: this still doesn't mean I am 100% :spoton:

.....but I am a bit worried about what dags said.. if he reads over what he wrote.. he won't be coming for sure!!! The NSFW section will be a good read when you get home! :roflmbo:

Thanks SCRIBR - yep, the Otways Cruise is up there as one of the all time bests in my opinion :spoton:

So Fat-Tony, planning on taking your new purple machine on any cruises - hint hint :msm:

Congratulations to both you and deek - so good to hear these stories where both parties are happy with the outcome :spoton:

Hey Flukey, you gonna tell us that you're coming along now that you picked up the phone

I'd like to come, but being in transport, adding another 650 odd klms onto an already long week is a bit much. will probably be up areound the 2500klm mark..

the otways run was ok, I just found that I wanted to up the pace a bit and couldnt get around traffic. slightly frustrating..

still good though.

Hi AceofSpades, understand about your line of work in the transport industry.

I'm assuming you mean the traffic of other road users and not our cruise cars. I sympathize with you about the Otways Cruise. There were some very slow road users on some of the bendy bits and there were solid no-over-taking centre lines that made it frustrating. I remember that xr6boy and I were caught behind that bugger of a 4WD ute for a long time going towards Apollo Bay.

However, I reckon it's different on the proposed route for this cruise. I wanted to highlight that I've done 2 partial dry runs now that were slightly over-lapping each other. These roads are truly less travelled on the 2 Sundays I went on them. Speed limit on almost all of the country roads we plan to go on is 100km/h and plenty of dashed centre lines on the twisties and the sweeping country roads (so just use your common sense when over-taking and there are plenty of opportunities to over-take legally). On the Loch to Wonthaggi twisties I encountered no one infront of me going in the same direction on the twisties between Lock and Wonthaggi. On the Inverloch to Yanakie leg, I encountered about 3 cars in total infront of me going in my direction, but they were over-taken safely and quickly. Many of the roads we'll be taking are definitely non-mainstream roads - but they are sealed and in good condition. That means proper 2 lanes in both directions with centre dashed lines dividing the lanes and no pot holes or leafy/tree branch rubbish on them.

I hear on the grapevine the next cruise will incorporate a tour of the Tontine Factory.....

Should be plenty of participation for that one.... :idunno:
