Hi Skooby,

I guess we'll meet up with you at Lang Lang Shell servo then if you come along (you don't want to miss doing the Loch - Wonthaggi twisties with us :spoton:)?

Yeah I could do that. It's probably better than meeting in Wonnie anyway. Rough time for Lang Lang would be 9:30 - 9:45am? Never been to Loch (or heard of it) so it should be interesting.

My wife will be coming along for the ride too. Made sure she had the weekend off. Depending on how the roster works out my mate might be coming along in his XR8.

Hi Guys,

Just did a dry run on part of the route today.

Some good news - I've been able to shorten the home run to avoid the parking lot on Princes Highway around Pakenham/Officer due to VicRoads road works (so we won't come home on the Princes Highway now). Makes the home run easier and faster :yeahyeah:

First post is updated to show the new route. Round trip is now only 460km (used to be 540km in the initial route proposed).

Hi Guys,

I was just wondering if I could have some feedback on your thoughts as to why you would or would not come along to this cruise.

Is it too long? (but some of the best roads are little out of town)

Is the date not good? (it does fall during the school holidays but it is clear of other events - please correct me though)

Is it too close to our previous VIC event? (held on 11 Mar)

Is it the cost (for fuel, for park entrance)?

By the way, had a brief telephone chat with Feann Torr today, the motoring journalist of Webwombat, to see if he would like to join us on the cruise. He's a Ford XR fan. He plans to have a Ford loan car that weekend to evaluate (not sure what) and what better way to check it out than with us on some twisties :msm:

Hi guys,

Here's my opinion for Gary's thoughts

The first thing that scared me was the 460km trip that's 5hrs total driving time, well it's the distance to Portland.

Then it's always the fuel costs, we all know about that! At least $80 for the trip

Aly

Hi Miss_Aly,

Thank you for your feedback :msm: I'm not critisizing you in anyway, because I think your points are valid and welcome them, but here are some positives I can see.

We take lots of stops along the way and the roads and destinations on the cruise, in my opinion, are interesting. It's an individual thing, but I also look at it as about 230km somewhere and 230km back and for those who have done long distance driving every now and again - 230km aint that much (especially with all the stops we take to break it up).

The cost is an individual thing. If you can afford the $ and the time, it is a great way to enjoy your XR and the open roads and with fellow like-minded forum members. Think of it as an evening out - some people could easily spend that much on a good night out at restaurant nowadays. And now's as good a time as any - milder Autumn temperatures and the dry weather means the roads are immeniently drivable.

hey gary for me its just a little to long, if I was driving there by self it would be ok but when your in a group things attend to go a little slower.

Not that there is any thing really wrong with that but it would come into play big time on a long trip.

The portsea cruz is about the lenght you want that was great fun.

My 2 cents.

I do a 260km round trip to Narre Warren every other week to see the family. Admittedly it's half the distance of the cruise but with a few stops along the way it aint that bad.
