At Loch, after a short pitstop for morning tea, leave the mainstream roads to head south towards Wonthaggi to tackle some 3rd gear twisties along what seems to be an endless ridge top with magnificent views of the surrounding hills. As we approach Wonthaggi, we'll see the huge wind turbines in the distance like something straight out of science fiction movie. Then we'll do some nice coastal bends along the Bunurong Coastal Road (and in my best Clarkson-style "Some say it's like a mini Great Ocean Road") with blue ocean views to the right before arriving for our lunch pitstop at Inverloch. After a fulfilling lunch, we continue on some more less-travelled winding roads to scenic Walkerville South with its wierd sea-carved rock formations just off the beach. After a brief photo opp, we head off to the place this cruise is all about - the world famous and spectacular Wilsons Prom National Park. After passing the entrance gate to the park, there are challenging hill climbs and twisties that will keep your hands busy, and awesome views of the deep blue ocean and crashing waves as we roar towards the park ranger's headquarters at Tidal River. Here, you'll have rest time - sit on the beach, go for a short walk, kick the footy, breath in the fresh sea air, re-energise or become one with nature. After about an hour or so, we'll head home more directly via the South Gippsland Highway, with a short detour near Korumburra to avoid the unsealed gravel VicRoad road works between Loch and Korumburra.DURATION: Approximately 9 hours including lunch and rest stops (about 460km round-trip).There will be plenty of pitstops because this cruise is a long one. As always, feel free to leave the cruise at anytime.MEET: First Meet PointBunnings at Fountain Gate Berwick for a 9:00 am departure (Melways Map 110 F5)Second Meet PointShell Lang Lang on the South Gippsland Highway about 9:40 am (Melways Map 96 A6)ROUTE DETAIL: Big Picture RouteCruise Detail RouteTerrainLoch to Wonthaggi TwistiesBunurong Coastal RoadWilsons Prom TwistiesFuel StopsPlease have a full tank at the Meet Point.
