Synthetic V Mineral Oils

Everyone would agree that synthetic oils offer far better internal protection than mineral oils.

But when do you see the results?

The use of synthetic oil will become apparent in the cars' later life when engine internals look like (well almost) new after say 160,000klms. Who hangs onto a car that long from new? I know I never have. On average, with that amount of k's on the clock, a car would have seen two owners. It certainly doesn't add any money to resale.

I'm talking about the average enthusiast. Most will never see the results for paying premium dollars.

Is it really worth it.......?

Cheers

I can feel the difference in quality immediately ......

In virtually any car... They even sound weeter with better oil...

Would have to agree with the Blonkster. Just put the full synthetic in mine recently and the difference is definately noticeable. How many extra ponies that translates to I have no idea - but a definate difference.

I ran Synthetic for 12 months and never felt any power gains. (by my seat anyway). Knowing my dealer, they probably put mineral oil in and charged me for Synthetic. (me just being mean...)

That was before I got edited. No THAT made a difference.

Cheers and thanks guys.

I like using Havoline as Stone brothers use off the shelf and its good enough for them its good enough for me.

Iam using 5w-40w full syn and compaired to what ever was in it when I purchased it it sounds quieter and seems to have more push.

Havoline is one of the cheaper syn as well on the market.

I was originally going to try Mobile one until Denialla at the brock shop said not to use it as it is crap she had suggested Shell oils.

I use sythetic as my t is a work ute which sees alot of the road!

Its use is to protect my investment as I dont mind pushing the throtle.

Ive had the ute for two and a half years, 116,000km so far and I estimate another 80,000km so for me if it lasts that long it was well worth the $80 for the oil!

Wouldnt you all agree?
