Why do we need state governments anyway?

For a country the size and poulation of Oz, we are over governed.

Too many fat cats.

Well said, we waste billions on these state morons.

Although, I don't think we'll be lucky enough to dump the NSW Labour cretins this time around. Now the Greens have decided to back Labour, despite their policy to build an enviromental disaster of a desalination plant.

They're all :spoton: heads really.

Well it was keating that really set up or economy, John Howard is merely riding his good work, and of course the massive growth in China.

What a load of crap, typical Labour stooge talk :spoton::tease:

Just out of interest who was it that floated the dollar? hence allowing us to truly compete in the global market? LABOR

What government had very low levels of inflation? LABOR (Then inherited by Howard)

who sold Assets to pay off Debt? HOWARD sells Telstra

Property prices have been driven up as the govts legislations in all states, restrict whioch areas are available to be developed. its happening in melb and everywhere else too.

They only allow small sections to be developed and are driving teh population density up.

problem is they allow demand to be sustained higher than supply to keep prices up.

jsut recently they allowed an area not far from home to be developed and within a year 5 developers had thrown the first stage up. the Developers want to develop but the govt restricts when and where.

Agreed, the government talks about the need to increase the population but the "urban consolidation" policies have driven up house prices to the point that a young couple cant focus on having kids cause they have to work to pay off the mortgage for the rest of their lives.

We have plenty of land in Australia, there is no shortage whatsoever and the property price increase will damage this economy in the long term. IMO we are headed for double digit inflation. The property price increases doesn't really help the average Joe. And the property prices could easily be reduced with the stroke of a pen. Its just a supply, demand issue.

The Australian young people should have the right to be able to afford to own an average house, eat, have a car and to be able to afford kids without both parents having to work 7/11.

All parties have their issues but its time for a change now.

Try convincing the ppl of WA about the abolition of the states - would be difficult.

Back to the main thread. I think its just about people's pockets. the last 3 interest rate rises have tarnished Howard a little. If people are happy whoever is in government will stay there. This is why Howard was there for so long - everyone's financial situation was decent.

Spoken by a true, brainwashed Unionist, and someone who doesn't really understand the new laws. Just following the Union propaganda.

You can guarantee that Labour will not roll back the IR laws.
