Common sense tells you that you don't get under a car just supported by a jack. That said I've used the ford Jacks on plenty of occasions and have never experienced this kind of problem, could be a batch of defective jacks. :tease:

Hey Fat hot air rises, not much work for your jack to do once you are under it.

Yeah my jack did the same thing about 2 weeks ago, I had a flat and realised at the local shopping centre. I decided to change it there and then and just as I was about to put the spare tyre on, and jack gave way! I had to quickly jam in the spare tyre underneath the rear guard otherwise it would of fallen on the axle. Could of been very disasterous.

The jack bent on a 90 degree angle, but hey get this, my girlfriend has a 1993 pulsar that weighs less than a tonne, I used her OEM jack, and it held my car up no problems! smaller and thinner material, yet stronger... :stirthepot:

I recommend getting a new jack and ditching the ford OEM one, piece of  if you ask me, whats 80 bucks in comparison to someones life?

yep never trust a jack, my trade school teacher knew a student who got under his car at home to do a 2min job while only supported by a trolley jack and it fell on his head and killed him.

He was only about 20. If you work on cars or even change wheels often atleats by 4 jack stands for home that can easily surport the weight.
