Forged pistons are "Forged" which is a process of treating the metal (Compressed Molten Aluminium) this makes stronger as there is more metal due to being compressed.

The other common type is cast/hypertectic pistons, which most pistons are in production motors.

Forged will usually allow you to run higher boost, but it is debatable as there are some good cast pistons on the market with ceramic or teflon coatings. I would talk to your tuner and work out what is best for your desired results and not buy them off eBay.

While Forgies are noiser when the motor is cold, they are getting better.
