Hi guys my name is Daniel. Iv been a member for a while now but haven’t had the guts to start posting yet. I turned 18 last year and inherited my fathers new BA MK11 XR6 Turbo. He said he wants a more family car so I scored big time! It has almost every extra from ford placed on it. 18 inch rims, the sound package, leather, momo steering wheel, the bigger brakes(not brembo), u name it, he put on it. I love the car and have great fun with it. It is completely stock only that I put a BMC air filter on it and I have taken the standard BOV off. It only made 20,000 km the other day. In the last couple of month I feel as if the car is running much much slower. I’m talking about almost losing a drag my mate’s standard VY. As you can all see this is very humiliating. Could anyone help out. I will take it to ford for a cheack up soon, but just wanted to see what your views are. The car didn’t always run like this. When I first got it, there was a massive difference. For those of you that will say to get an edit, I will just gotta get some cash. Ohh and would the heat that we have been having here in melb the last couple of months have such a negative effect on the car.

Thanks

You were running against a VY SS ? would not be much in it anyhow.

A couple of things to check

1/ Hoses for leaks loose clamps etc.

2/ Spark plug gaps

3/ Boost solenoid clean

There have been threads on these over the past few days , go have a squix

BTW , your old man must love ya

Wow, you are one luck SOB, is your ol man lookin at adopting any 37 yo kids?

Anyway, I'd start lookin at any boost leaks around your intercooler piping, I wouldn't thinks It would be anything major at 20K.

Good luck

sorry the vy was a s not a ss so it was a v6, I have looked at all the houses and have not yet found any leacks. since I removed the BOV it has been making a very laud whistling sound when boost hits. would that indicate that there is a leak. I have also tryed the Boost solenoid clean but still runs really sluggy.

we'll see how much he loves me when I tell him I need new tyres next month

The heat can have a massive effect on performance... it seriously wouldn't suprise me if that was the reason as to why it has dropped off.

I know mine in the heat is a complete slug... though it still goes good, it's goes nothing like it does when the weather is on it's side...

since I removed the BOV

This as it sounds is your number 1 problem.,

If you have not done it properly then your car is running really lean and you have done irreversible damage...

Who told you to remove the BOV???????????

And how did you do it

One of my mechanic mates did it for me. What he did is take of the BOV and replace it with a 90 degree hose. This I have only done a few days ago but the car was running slow a long time before I done this. Will this do damage or effect the engine in anyway?

Yes...... You need to blo=ck off one hose and ensure you have a non return valve in the other hose... Have you got the right ones?? Has your mate got a mechanics licence.. If not sack him.. I feel bad your car aint running right but dont add to the problems... Where are you and I may be able to get someone to look at it for you...
