Thanks for all the handy info everyone. I’ve never been a fan of polishing the car but after reading all these tips I became very motivated and gave the Turbo a tub and polish with the Gold Class and the Wet Look. Wow, she looks fantastic. Just one thing, no one mentioned how great the smell of the wet look polish is. I wanted to eat it. :D

One question, how often do you guy’s polish your cars?

I polished mine within a week of applying the 1st coat.

Why......I covered it before in a prev. post. Lets just say the BBF service department washed my new gleaming paintwork and created scuff city as a result. Therefore I needed to polish her up again. Was ropeable at the time.

Getting 5 months worth of trucks throwing stones into my paintwork fixed on Wednesday morning. Not to mention the damage on my rear bumper.

I have a few light scratches on the rear bumper where I accidently dragged the vacuum cleaner hose when cleaning the boot - what should I use to fix?

Meguiars have a product called "Scrath X" it removes light scratches and swirls. I hope this helps you.

According to the meguiars website you don't have to use the gold class wax and then the wetlook. Both of those products are meant for a one step application. On a light color car Meguiars recommend using the gold class wax by itself, or you can opt for the 2 step system which is a pure polish and then a wax. A useful tool is the "Meguiars Paint Prescription" which can be found at the Meguiars Website http://www.meguiars.com.au' target='_blank'>

Guys,

I'm confused with the reference to Wetlook.

Aren't there two different Meguiars "Wetlook' products?

One bing a liquid wax.

The other being a polymer sealent.

Which wetlook product are you guys refering to in this thread? Or am I just confused?

My understanding is that there's only one "wetlook" polish and that is the polymer sealant whereas the other polish/wax products just state they give a wetlook appearance. I use the gold class wax by itself because the meguiars paint prescription I completed on their website suggested that because I have a light colored car (blueprint) I only need to use a wax in a one step application not a polish and wax two step application.

I have used the gold class wash followed by the gold class wax on a blueprint xr6t for about 6 times since delivery in april. The gloss level isn't as good as I had expected. Also the car still seems to attract general road grime. I was hoping that the Meguiar's gold class products would acheive a fantastic gloss level as well help repel road grime.

I am thinking of either trying the Wetlook polymer selant or perhaps trying another product. I have not used the Deep Crystal polish prior to applying the polish, as after all, this is a new car.

What is everyone else's views????????? Is there a magic product out there that protects paint, repels dirt, is durable, is long lasting and has a fantastic gloss level?????????

Also I know another XR8 owner who swears by CT-18 Superwash (6 litre truck wash pack from Supacheap). Has anyone used this over a long period of time????? If certainly cleans very well (and streak free).
