Meguiars Polish

While we're on the subject, just wondering what ppl are doing to preserve the rubber and black areas around the side windows, mine seem to be water staining even though I chami it dry.

I've used Wet Look, Gold Class wax and the Cleaner wax (in the tin), the Cleaner wax gets the nod, b!tch to get off but worth it, no swirls I can detect

Would the swirls show up worse on different colours? as I too can detect no swirls on my merc/silver, however a lot of phantoms I have seen show swirls, they don't look good at all. I would hope they could be removed easily.

Once a beater by trade.

My way of a car detail.

1. High pressure rinse or rinse with a high pressure hose fitting.

2. High pressure rinse under wheel arces, in door,boot,petrol,bonet jams.

3. Soft hand mit wash using - Meguires Gold Class wash

in a shady spot , Washing from top down. Ideally , you should wash

your car every week. Note: If you notice some contaminats aren't being

removed when washed , try incresing wash frequency.

4. Hose off soap sudds. Wash wheels with an old sponge.

5. There are 2 ways of drying. 1. Go for a drive around the block then

hand chamois it with a Meguiars soft buff synthetic chamois.

( Reason) for this is to remove excess water in door,boot,bonet jams

if you have not got an air compressed air blower.

6. Inspect paint work after it is dry.

7. Use Meguiars scratch x. If you see baked on contaminants , swirl marks

and scrtchesto dramatically improve paint finish.

8. Polish : Being a new car no individual polish is needed.

9. Protect : What I find works well to bring out full richness and create

clear sharp reflection while adding protection is Meguiars gold class

wax. Apply using a Meguiars hand applicator pad to the entire car and

allow to dry to a haze. Wipe off with a Meguiars polishing towel.

10. Maintain : 2 poducts I use to safely and quickly remove fresh

contaminates while enhanching gloss and protection are 1. Meguiars

quick detailer 2. Beleave me or not Mr Sheen - Regular red can.

11. Tyre shine : Meguiars High gloss applied twice

12. Spare time tell next week : Drink beer in a beergarden.

Oh yeah!!!! That's why I take extra time to check sponges and my chamios for grit before I wipe. So crutial. I see many a new car and people simply don't care or have no clue (one or the other). Why bother washing your car 1-3 times a week when the surface looks like an ice skating arena. I just don't get it.

My swirl marks are still at minimal, especially after using "Wet Look". It minimised that nasty one I have near the rear left hand side quarter window, and that's a deep scratch!!!

I'm happy. (Well untill the next phantom bound stone from a truck heads my way)!

I've been using Meguires polishes for about 8 years and I swear by them. the reason is they have something for everyone. I used to use the professional range which meant wash, prep, polish then wax- up to 8 hours of dedication. :( now I use the gold glass swirl reducer/surface prep and polish- this has combined a couple of the steps. For people using the wet look, try using the paint cleaner or better still the clay bar (as discussed elsewhere in this forum) The trick is to get a surface that feels like Glass, then your polish will go on smoother than ever and come off easier than you could ever think. Only thing with the clay bar is make sure you lubricate it really well or scratch city!!!

Another thing- I always wet the car and use my wash directly on the sponge, and use a soft flow, not a nozzle to wash it of. This sheets the wwater of and you get stuff all spots, and only takes a minute with a chamios.

Yeah Devo the bit about sheeting the water does make a difference believe it or not, have'nt tried putting wash directly on sponge though.......but I will this arvo.
